Thoughts on "Frozen"

Changed almost all my icons. Yay

So in the past week I’ve seen Disney’s Frozen twice.

Yeah.

Okay, so for those who’ve yet to see it and want to know if I would recommend it? Yes. So much yes. One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time, Disney, or otherwise. The plot is fun, and able to mix comedy and drama (and quite a bit of action) at great moments. The characters are really great, and the idea of two female protagonists is just great. The writing is top-notch, and oftentimes beyond hilarious. A lot of the jokes have the ‘PG-13/R’ rated feel to them, y’know the type, going right over the kid’s heads but making the adults in the audience laugh.

It’s just a great movie.

Okay, so if you’ve read that: GO SEE THE MOVIE. I cannot stress it enough.

For those who have seen the movie, some spoilers follow.

Okay. So, all the of the characters are amazing. Anna’s naivety, yet ability to love no matter what (not to mention her hilarious and quirky nature) make her so lovable, yet the character who steals the show is most certainly Elsa. Gorgeous, powerful, nuanced (and with the best song “Let It Go”!), I just fell in love with this character. She’s got all of the things that hit my character kinks. No, seriously. She’s got:

1. Immense destructive power she cannot control
2. Repression issues
3. Is a Queen
4. Has complex emotions when it comes to her responsibilities
5. Let’s loose and finds herself torn between what feels good and what is needed of her

Yeah. She hit them all. Her change into the “Snow Queen” persona honestly probably piqued my interest more than it should have. But seriously, what a great character. One of the best to come out of Disney in a really long time.

movies, frozen
