waking to airports and uncertainty part 1

Aug 19, 2005 01:50

i leave for tokyo tomorrow night. in between i have three appointments (lunch, tea, brunch) and i have to pack, and buy a backpack for SA because i won't have time when i get back.

i'm also exhausted from getting less than four hours of sleep last night, a combination of
1. going to jasmine's party, which i left around midnight
(no regrets though, great to see daff and doll and puj and jkok and wl :))
2. jasmine living on the other side of the island, which meant i got home around 1,
3. having to think about what to talk about this morning, when i
4. had to wake up at 7am to talk to the JC1s at RJC about um my exciting exploits at college
(in american speak, means i had to go talk to 11th graders at my high school)
no it's not because i'm special or anything, but mr reeves likes to do things like that-- bring alumni back to talk to the younger kids and sort of inspire them a little. i remember being awestruck years ago and wondering if i would ever actually get to go overseas, blah, blah.
it all works out. went well, was quite good fun. i was a little worried at first because i don't know if i was actually interested in this stuff in JC1. (wanlin says its cos all we cared about then was playing good basketball) but really, was good to be back.
better still was a long chat over 'a cup of tea' with mr R and gen, and then tea again (these brits!) with mr rollason and mr evans.

i feel a little bit more recharged now though.
without quite realising it i've had to learn how to really listen to what people are saying.
