Yuletide, 2015
Dearest Yuletide Author,
Hello! I never know quite what to say in this part of the letter, but trust me when I tell you that I’m excited to be doing Yuletide this year and I hope you are too!
I love really plotty adventures but I won’t say no to shameless fluff. I enjoy gen, and humor, and really introspective character pieces. Post-canon, pre-canon, judiciously placed missing scene, all are welcome. Basically, if you have an idea and it’s taking you towards a certain tone or structure, I will probably be into it.
Although, to add some sort of boundary line: I’m not particularly into AUs, and I would prefer not to get smut if it’s the entirety of the story. And I really dislike non-canonical violence, character and ship bashing, and dub/non-con.
If you want a more specific look at what I like, my bookmarks on AO3 should give you a good idea (my AO3 name is the same as this one - for ease and lack of creativity when it comes to usernames). Also, there are some gifs further in the letter that link to my tumblr, so feel free to glance at that, with the caveat that the closer we get to December, the more my tumblr will just be all Star Wars.

Raven Cycle - Maura, Calla
“Calla?” Blue asked suddenly. “Are you one of those people who reuses time? You and Mom and Persephone?”
This line has stuck with me since I read Dream Thieves and I really, really want fic about it. Does “reusing time” mean that Maura and Calla are using time in order to be psychics? Are they actually much, much older than we think? Are they time travelers?! (I love time travel.)
If you don’t want to go with the “what did Blue mean in that sentence that never really got addressed?” route, then I would love pre-series fic about Maura, Persephone and Calla. Something about Maura when she was pregnant, or how she, Calla and Persephone came together. This is one of the rare instances where I would prefer not to see any of the Raven Boys involved.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Xanthippe Voorhees
When did I know that I loved Xanthippe Lannister Voorhees? This moment. But then, really, this moment. (And you know what, if you want to write me an in-depth fic about Xanthippe: secret soccer nerd, I would be into it.)
I just want fic about Xanthippe. I’d love something post-season 1, or set around the finale - what does she do when she finds out that Kimmy is a Mole Woman? She spent the whole season trying to figure out what Kimmy’s deal was that I felt a little robbed that we never saw her reaction to the trial. So fic about Xanthippe spotting Kimmy on the news and trying to find her would be great. Or does she ever make it back to New York? Or stay in Connecticut and become a more honest, bird-watching-obsessed version of herself? Do she and Titus have any more interactions? (Because they should).
Since it’s such an ensemble show, I’d love to see whichever other characters you want brought in. My only request is that Xanthippe be the focus!
Chronicles of Chrestomanci - Marianne Pinhoe, Cat Chant
I reread Pinhoe Egg recently and felt gutted by my need to know how these two turn out as adults. Or even just older teenagers. Their stories are so much about finding one’s power - and also about helping someone find his or her power too (when Cat tells Marianne that he thinks Gammer kept her dark and dusty too is so sad but revelatory). I would love to see how that evolves as they get older.
I definitely ship Marianne/Cat, and fic about people how people become a couple will never get old for me. Or maybe fic about the two of them being the power couple of Chrestomanci Castle: Younger Generation Edition (because obviously Christopher and Millie have them beat overall), and going on adventures around the universes. Or if you don’t ship them, I would be into some platonic adventures. And how do they adapt to the world as they grow up?
Elementary - Kitty Winter
Please write me the Continuing Adventures of Kitty Winter. Or the Early Adventures of Kitty Winter. Or the Offscreen Season 3 Adventures of Kitty Winter. I just love this character and want to see more of her. Her resilience and how much she grew was fascinating to me, and I really miss her.
My one caveat is that I do not want anything about her captivity; I got enough of that out of the show. I don’t mind getting a little dark (like, how did she handle not killing Gruner?), but I don’t want any actual violence or flashbacks to it.
As for other characters, I didn’t put any down because there is such a great, broad canvas of people, so please throw in whoever you want! Does Kitty run into Moriarty while on the road? Is she mysteriously helping Gregson and Bell from very far away? Is Sherlock sending her random pictures of graffiti he enjoys? Does she send Watson a cool accessory from every new city she gets to? Use as few or as many other characters as you want.
