Describe your OTP and make it sound as shitty as possible
I was going through my tumblr looking for meta (in preparation for @marchmetamatterschallenge). Turns out I have hardly any of that on there - maybe one post - BUT I do have these tags on a meme post from September 2015.
Under the cut: past me going all out on the Spuffy-dissing.
#spuffy #haha where do I start #two serial killers trying to off each other only they suck at it #the reason they first teamed up was to beat up their mutual ex #no no WAIT! #old HOMELESS guy! sneaking into main character's house to sniff her clothing and steal her stuff #later she dated him #for a given value of ''dating'' haha I mean she used him as a sex toy #but not before he had a sexbot made that looked like her #which she found out & then they kissed #or wait actually they first kissed before #magic made them do it #also #heroine can't resist the sinister attraction of big bad #they got together in this really corny moment with big sweeping music and dramatic kiss #after that they still beat each other up a lot but it was okay because they both sort of got off on it #except when she beat him half to death #nobody got off on that #also the rape the rape is not fun #that and the sheer embarrasing amounts of emotional neediness all round #stay away from this ship #did I mention how she was just in it for the kinky sex and the power trips? #no he was trying to support her in her life as a single mum #he failed #then later he finds Jesus and sort of gets into self-flagellation and there is MELODRAMA #a whole season of it #but no sex :C #they held hands? #also they cuddled in an empty house they were squatting in bc homeless #then in the end he became a suicide bomber for her if that isn't romantic what is
Anybody wanna resurrect the meme? Summarize your ship badly?
Or maybe this kind of thing is not as fun as it was at the time. I think some of these tags work, but other parts are just painful (and also not exactly true).
What stands out to me now is that past me was utterly unable to say when Spuffy "got together". What is the start of their relationship, or even their romantic relationship (did they have one in TV canon)? I don't know, man. And I love the hell out of the ambiguity and complexity.
I feel like I should balance this with something about why I *like* Spuffy. I suppose I've got some of it written up in haiku form (Journey of snark, trust,/ longing. Of facing demons./ We can do better.), cinquain form (He stole/ glances, sweaters,/ and fire that only/ men should feel, sacrifice mocking/ the gods.), and the occasional ficlet. As far as meta goes, tumblr user impalementation made an outstanding post on Buffy's relationships a week or two few weeks ago, and that covers a fair chunk of it, so imma link that.
