> NOT A TECHNICIAN [ BONES, OPEN ]

[ my, but what was a doctor doing in operations? maybe looking for a little peace and quiet, since that seemed in short supply on all the lower decks. (he could attest: he nearly got bowled over by a new arrival in a wheelchair on his way up.) that and .58 wasn't a big fan of the holodeck. at least not yetthe systems appeared to be locked, not that ( Read more... )

[ maybe .58 wasn't a fan of the holodeck, but the notion of what it could provide one with intrigued the gymnast who wandered into ops in hopes of finding someone she could persuade into creating a gym program for her, complete with all the usual gymnastics equipment ]

[ he'd just had a sip of whiskey, and thank god, because when he turned in his chair who should be revealed but emony. emony, whose presence he hadn't yet been able to properly appreciate - and that he probably wouldn't be able to, still. wouldn't it be nice to just turn around and pretend he hadn't seen her. nice and rude. ]

Emony.

[ she wasn't expecting to see the other leonard mccoy in ops--yes, she can tell the difference. the cuts help, tyvm .58--and halts ]

Doctor McCoy.

[ that hurt. more than he expected it to. not that he hadn't earned it, but. ]

I'm sorry. About what happened during the ion storm.

You weren't yourself. It wasn't your fault.

If you really believed that, would you still be calling me Doctor McCoy?

[ she sighed. she shouldn't have done that. it was tactless of her, to call him that, but she couldn't help but feel a sharp spike of irritation towards this leonard mccoy for what happened to the other one ]

What would you like me to call you?

[ considering this was their first real reunion... it wasn't going well. he was acutely aware that one of the women he should be happiest to see in the world was sighing instead of smiling. his expression remained sober. ]

Whatever's natural for you. If it's "Doctor McCoy," I'll just have to earn back "Leonard."

[ sighs, realizing she's acting like the very people she frowns upon. there was an ion storm and it messed with a majority of the station, including him. it was unfair for her to keep holding that against .58 ]

Leonard's natural.

I'm glad.

[ he was content to believe that whatever she said to him wasn't a lie. never any games with emony. the tone was still too dour for him to muster a smile, but he nodded. ]

What brings an athlete up to ops?

What brings a doctor to ops?

Just looking for the eye of the storm.

[ finally moving from her spot, emony walks up next to him to eye what he's working on ]

Aren't you a doctor, not a scientist?

Or a meteorologist.

[ he hadn't really been doing much. mostly enjoying the quiet and the usually terrifying, occasionally comforting uniform serenity of space. most if not everything manageable from this station was locked by holly, and none of it beared any significance as far as he could tell. he shifted in his seat to sit straighter. ]

You haven't answered my question.

I was looking for someone acquainted with holographic programing. Even with Tobin's flare for such things, this level of technology is beyond me.

Scotty could probably help you. If Jim could figure out how to program that damn thing, I'm sure Scotty's coded at least twenty different simulations by now.
