[ there's a new arrival on the station, someone who despite sporting a pair of very familiar blue eyes and sandy-blonde hair, albeit a bit darker, doesn't look too pleased to be there. in fact, he looks livid and wants answers. now. ]

Someone had better have a damn good reason for doing this.

[She's not standing too far away, and is in fact standing in front of one of the consoles, studying a map of the base. It's...huge.]

[ he happily walks over there. hellooooo nurse lieutenant ]

They can take their time.

[She glances at the new arrival over her shoulder and gives him a wry smile.]

They're doing that. At least you arrived at a time when an Ion storm wasn't making half the people insane.

When aren't people insane? Everyone's got a bit of crazy in them. It's all a matter of whether or not it gets let out.

[Short laugh.] Yeah, well. When I got here it was being unleashed full-force.

[She finally turns to fully face him, giving him a once-over before extending her hand.]

Lieutenant Marlena Moreau. We're at a place called Shtel Nor. Welcome to the insanity.

[ happily shakes her hand, grinning ]

Lieutenant. Starfleet? My brother joined up with that. Wasn't exactly my cup of tea. Hate tea.

[She nods, still smiling and then...blinks at him.]

Sam...Kirk. Huh. Didn't know the captain had a brother. Then again it's not like we were ever properly introduced.

[No, they just acted like they had been when she first arrived.]

[samkirk]

Did Jim pay you to tell me he was a captain?

[ shakes his head ]

He's really going out of his way to get me, isn't he? Props, but not working. Not buying it.

[She laughs, shaking her own head.]

Nope. He's really and truly the captain. He tell you the story of how yet?

[samkirk]

[ he scratches the back of his head. dammit, this is all real, isn't it? ]

[ yes, that is totally a hint for you to tell him the tale. really, he doesn't mind you holding his attention. not at all ]

[And she doesn't mind giving him hers.]

I don't know the whole story, I just know Starfleet's official version of it. I can tell you what was happening in the science lab while everything was going down if you're really interested in that.

What makes you think I won't be? Please, tell. I'm all ears.

A lot of it involved me and the rest of the ship's scientists listening to the broadcasts and trying not to fall or get whacked in the head by anything that wasn't bolted down when the ship got hit.

A game of figure it out and dodge. Always fun. I take it you managed to avoid getting bonked in the head with something heavy and unpleasant?

I did, but I don't think anyone on the ship came out of that without a few bruises.
