{.I’m A Loose Bolt Of A Complete Machine.} [Alex || Open]

[He was both looking forward to this and not. On the one hand, it was his last test before he graduated and got his assignment. On the other, it was his last test. At least it was sunny outside so he didn’t have to be cooped up in his room to study. He’d been muttering to himself in the halls, a look of total concentration on his face as he dodged his way through the halls by reflex rather than any real attention.

He did make it outside without incident, and he flopped down on the grass only to ignore the nice weather in favor of staring at his PADD reviewing all of the material he had ever covered in his stint at the Academy.

And there was certainly a whole hell of a lot of it.

He heard a familiar voice calling his name and he waved him off- he didn’t have time to goof off now. Thankfully, that was all it took, and he was free to study.

After a few hours, his eyes began to hurt and he rolled over onto his back and closed his eyes. He realized with a tinge of guilt that he hadn’t played piano since he had started here, and his fingers itched to manipulate the keys again. His roommate had laughed at him once about that. He had said that his graceful piano-player’s hands made him a perfect engineer. Alex had laughed right back and said that being an engineer made him a perfect piano player.

It wasn’t like he hadn’t known that he wouldn’t have time for it, but the feeling was still there.

Sighing, he rolled over and went back to reading over the charts again. He’d have to know this stuff if he ever wanted to get out of the academy.]

((Beth's re-using his journal. Have a just-getting-ready-to-graduate Alex.))
