[While Spock was having conversations with himself, it had been a long time since McCoy saw hide or hair of one of his counterparts puttering around Sickbay and succeeding in frustrating him. He was the only one with any rational reaction to encountering an exact duplicate; and not passing themselves off as twins or aspiring chess players.
But what would he know? No one ever listened to him. Every Vulcan on the station was determined to annoy him. And the Observation Deck was the last place he wanted to be, but his patient had wandered off - or was discharged, who knows - and he figured it would be best to check up on him. Habits were becoming hard and would probably ripen with age.
[Another tie, of course. He knew what he was thinking and trying to do, after all. It was doubtful that enlisting the help of his other self would very much change the situation, although, the comparison would certainly be interesting in the various differences that appeared due to their separation.
Then, as he replaced the pieces to the starting position and without turning around-]
[... Damn pointy-eared bastard. The very least he could do was acknowledge him properly instead of battering his eyelashes at the game he was engrossed in. He took a step forward from his haunting place and announced in an exasperated tone:]
