there was a temple here. apparently it was something the bajorans used for their religion. kirk knew nothing about it, or why he was standing in the entryway. he didn't really believe in a higher power... or more that if there was, it couldn't affect him.

I believe that they hear our prayers. They don't answer everyone, but those who are chosen they do.
