[ Ena looked at the PADDs scattered across the small table in the library. Commander Harness had given Ena some of her theories and Jimena 'd yoinked some of the notes Deven had been working on as well. Half of the things here she could only just begin to understand and yet there was one thing that all these theories and equations had in common... they were incomplete. They were just ideas so far. There were too many unknowns.
They were no closer to finding a way home.
At that thought, Jimena paused and sat down. Home. Her own universe. Everyone here was sick and tired of being away from their homes. Or so they said. It seemed like all the work they were doing here, when they weren't combating odd space occurrences or replicator malfunctions, was devoted to getting everyone back to their proper universes.
Ena rubbed a hand over her face and stared off into space. All the people here, everyone she'd talked to and formed some sort of a relationship with... The Gailas, Jules, Jim, the Boneses, so many others, hell even Dukat... they were friends of a sort and she'd gotten close to. And no one else here was from her own universe. It was a fact that she was forcefully reminded of whenever she met someone else she recognized and they weren't used to a female Jim Kirk.
Her mind moved a million miles a minute, thinking about how she'd lose all those people and how she'd cope when she got back home. After all, she was a Captain, she had duties she'd have to attend to once she got back. And then another realization hit.

Oh god.
[ Her choked whisper seemed to echo around the library as her eyes widened. Her chest hurt, almost as if someone had actually reached into her chest and ripped a bit of her heart out. She took a steadying breath and clenched her jaw tight as she tried to rein in her emotions. Now wasn't the time to break, to let this get to her. But that one thought kept running through her head.
"I'm going to have to leave him-- leave them-- behind." ]
