> Ignorance is the parent of fear [Bones | Sickbay | Open]

[McCoy was in Northern Sickbay, where he had been for the duration of this epidemic, but the vast crowd of patients seemed to be thinning out. With this many white coats you think someone would have stopped them leaving, he thinks in mild annoyance as he looks over another PADD ( Read more... )

[ as she had intended earlier, seven made her way to sickbay, aware of the flutter of wings in her wake, but doing her best to focus on her path rather than the sound of those dark feathers brushing against the air. upon entering, she ignored the stares -- both those that were appreciating her form and in shock and wonder by the sight of the ocular implant inside her blonde waves and the hand encased in borg augmentation. she'd learned to ignore such looks long ago back on voyager. they no longer affected her. instead, she made a b-line for the individual she knew to be doctor mccoy, but was unaware of which one this was. well, that could be remedied. ]

Are you the Doctor McCoy of Stardate 2258.50?

[McCoy had been occupying himself with writing down the medical conditions in caused by the creature orbiting the station in his CMO log and craned his head at the call of his name from an unfamiliar voice. He recognized the woman as someone he had passed briefly in the hallways of the station, but not someone he was truly acquainted with and he put the PADD down and leant back in his chair, regarding her with an air of suspicion and curiosity.]

That's right. Can I help you?

[ seven clasped her hands together and tilted her head to the side a bit in what any of her crew would note as true seven fashion. ]

According to the information I have assimilated, you are responsible for the genetic identification tags that are being to properly separate the multiple versions of persons stranded on this station. I must inform you that there is now a James Kirk and Nyota Uhura of stardate 2255 present; recently arrived.

[McCoy rubs the side of his face as she informs him about the new arrivals. Although it feels more like a lecture, he does a double take at the Stardate.]

My God, more of them?

Affirmative. I had a most interesting...encounter with both of them in the habitat ring, near Suite 959. I do not believe they accepted the answers I provided them with. Perhaps the intelligence level specified in Kirk's file is inaccurate and flawed.

[ the bird had landed somewhere behind her, she recognized the sound of wings being folded in and fluffed, but she ignored it. that final statement was her own way of expressing irritation. sarcasm, captain janeway would have called it. a failed attempt, perhaps, but at least she had attempted. ]

[McCoy leans further into the back of his chair as she continues her explanation and raises an eyebrow at her choice of wording. Affirmative? Inaccurate? Flawed? What was she, another damn Vulcan? No, instead of points on her ears, there was alloy grafted onto her skin... but his curiosity about her is diverted by her declaration about James T. Kirk as a brittle chuckle bursts from his lips.]

No, that was probably just his dumbass routine. Although that Stardate... he would have just enlisted with Starfleet.

Curious. According the the histories of my version of the timeline, James T. Kirk began his studies at Starfleet Academy in 2250. This version is belated.

[McCoy rubs his lower lip. She must have been from another timeline different to theirs. Only one way to find out.]

Your history doesn't happen to have articles on a Romulan called Nero, would it?

I am unaware of a notable individual of that designation. However, it should be noted that I am a from a Federation ship currently stranded in the Delta Quadrant. The Starfleet records I have had access to may be somewhat...outdated.

The Delta Quadrant...

That is correct. Voyager was first stranded on stardate 48307.5, 2371 by the system that is being employed on this station. I am from 2375, though I have been present in the Delta Quadrant for the past nineteen years.

You're a member of Starfleet?

[ seven hesitated. that was a complicated question with an even more complicated answer. she wasn't truly with starfleet, nor had her parents been a part of it, but she was a federation citizen...technically, as well as part of voyager's senior staff without being an officer. she didn't have official rank, but she had authority. no one short of others on the senior staff would dare ignore an order from her. it was a question she didn't know quite how to answer, but eventually settled on-- ]

...technically, yes, though I do not possess rank in the form of a title.

[This enigma around this woman just increased, McCoy wonders as she hesistates on how to answer that question.]

Technically?

[ she tensed. the bird was squawking behind her and she did her best to focus on the doctor rather than the feathered terror. it was the distraction he was providing her with that made it so she was willing to elaborate rather than simply stating, "the technicality of my affiliation with starfleet is irrelevant," as she would have at any other given point in time. ]

I was part of the Borg Collective for eighteen years. I was disconnected from the hive mind by Captain Janeway and integrated into Voyager's crew. I have authority aboard that vessel, but given the inability to communicate with Starfleet Command in the Alpha Quadrant, my affiliation is not official.
