Nick & I have been reading some Ozark history about Sinkin Creek, a tributary of Current River. We spent Sunday w/maps, our history, & camera exploring an area of the Ozarks that had, during 1890 through 1930, a thriving population until the logging businesses cut down most of the trees and made it impossible to sustain a family on the stripped and eroding land.
It was fun to find where old schoolhouses had stood, old towns & mills, & cemetaries w/names from our history. Here are some pictures.
