Under the Bridge Review

Okay to begin with, I dislike our victim, Reena Virk. She basically was so isolated due to her family, the Indian Jedohovah's Witnesses, that it made it so easy for her to fall into the group of girls that she did. She constantly dressed in sweatshirts and baggy clothing, and the one time she was in gym class, she was mocked by the other girls in the locker room. The girls called her a "Beast" due to her not shaving her legs, something that I guess was against her religion(?) but was plain awful. Reena then met Jo and her friends who taught her to steal a man's razor for her to shave. However her mother reacted poorly to her shaving, which was dumb, as it should've been the stealing part that upset her.

Reena also had poor reactions to things. Hating having crap breakfast on her birthday (As it was against her relation), and her constantly hating of her parent's culture. Later she was forced to invite her friends over and after it went poorly, she  immediately sided with her parents to blame her "friends" for stealing from her home. There was no proof one way or another there. Later her reaction to not being invited to a party was dumb as her stealing from Josephine in the effort to ruin the girl's rep.

The cops also are awful in this as well. To begin with, whenever anyone makes a claim of abuse, it has to be investigated. The cops didn't investigate Reena's lies, immediately believing her tale. This got her what she wanted: out of her parents house and into the foster care home with no rules. However when Kelly began treating her like shit, she wrote a note, mentioning how she lied. Not surprised that this was found easily causing her to be sent out of the foster home and into her uncle's home. (Which really should've been where she was sent to begin with.)

Also the chief, being Cam's adoptive father, its no surprise that when Cam wanted to move on that he refused to give her a recommendation. It was as if he was keeping her there just to claim to the press that the town was accepting of others. And having one of the cops to want her to recant about it being racially motivated, because Kelly and Warren didn't act out of race, is really bad. Yes, it wasn't racially motivated, but honestly the way he spoke was often rude. Her father then using the job she wanted, to stop her from admitting that Dusty's claims were false, was awful.

Reena's father is gullible and the Virk family shouldn't have removed her door. That doesn't help in his illeged molestation charges. Now when Reena returned home, she really should've known better to go to the party, especially after stealing Jo's notebook and calling everyone to lie. By leaving the house, she signed her death warrant.

Of anyone in this show, I feel bad more for Warren than anything. He was abandoned by his father the same day that Reena was killed. Going along with Kelly to harm Reena, was poor idea, but he had been drinking and was upset with loosing his home. He then stupidly told his girlfriend what had happened which didn't help matters. If he hadn't done either of those things, maybe it would've only been Kelly who was in trouble.

I believe that Reena's mother thinking that Warren thought he thought her daughter was an animal was a step too far. The judge was awful and I believe that he was biased so having him sentenced as high was dumb. Kelly should've had much worse and everyone was gullible if they believed that she wasn't a sociopath.
