To me, I felt that Angus deserved a better family than a mother who was so focused on her new life that she refused to allow her teenage son to see his ill father. The fact that of the students in Paul Giamatti's class, he was the only character to receive a decent grade as every other student got Ds or F-'s as if F-'s were even a thing.
