What a difference a few calls can make in your day.

The second call was from Debie. Apparently, she does not, in fact, have HPV; the doctors had majorly suspected it, but they were wrong. Cool. That means everyone I'd mentioned a ways back can now rest a bit better. Her surgery went well too. Good to know she'll be alright.

The first call was much more...impactual. I know when my mom calls out of the blue it usually means something is wrong, so when I saw that it was her on the caller ID, I already had a good idea why she would be calling. Grandma Kendall. She was supposed to return from the hospital today after having some polyps in her colon cauterized to stop them from bleeding. Well yesterday, there was fresh blood, so they examined her again and discovered a tumor in what would normally be a very operable region of the body. Problem is, she's pretty old, and already weakened due to both her condition and the meds they give her. Mom told me there were two options: one, she doesn't have the surgery, goes into intensive care (and basically a home), and slowly dies. Grandma would never want that, so option two is the one she's going with. She's having the surgery tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on what, I don't know. So I might be leaving work early tonight to visit her before the surgery, to both give her my love and support, and to maybe see her for the last time. This sucks so bad.

Okay, to distract myself...I don't know yet if I will be able to make it to the DDRATHON3 at all. If Nabil trades me shifts, I'm set, but as this is Easter Weekend, he may already have plans. I really want to go! Everyone will be there that I haven't seen in ages, mucho DDR and LazerTag with the Indy and Fort Wayne peoples, and it's a great cause. I'll post tonight either way.

Might be going to Indy tomorrow...won't hold my breath, but it would be awesome. Mmm...
