Interesting week thus far.

Tuesday I went to see Grant Hart (of Husker Du fame) play at the Lexington Avenue Brewery. The thought of seeing a legendary artist at a little hole in the wall for $7 was pretty awesome in and of itself, but I was a bit bummed at the fact that I couldn't convince any of my friends to go with me. It was a great show, and afterward I hung out and talked to Grant and got him to sign my copy of Zen Arcade. He wrote 2010 on it for some reason, and I just didn't have the heart to tell him it was 2011 now. I spose that's a story to tell the grandkids, eh?

The original plan for Thursday and Friday was simple, but it got complicated. I was hoping to meet up with Hannah Thursday, but getting my new phone (see below) ended up taking way longer than expected, so that didn't happen. I was hoping to get together with my new friend Rachel on Friday, perhaps do dinner and a movie, but it doesn't look as though that's going to happen either. She hasn't returned my text messages in a few days, and her most recent facebook status update mentions a "new friend." I'm thinking perhaps I've been replaced. The concept of a guy and girl hanging out without being in a relationship sounds great on paper, but once a more desirable specimen comes along the "just friends" guy gets shafted every time. Story o' my life. I guess I'll use my new found free time to do some grocery shopping and then hang out with April.

So about that new phone....... I've been planning on switching to Virgin Mobile for quite some time now. My contract with AT&T has long since expired, my phone is a piece of shit, and I could easily upgrade to something much nicer. The problem with this is that if I were to upgrade, someone somewhere along the line might realize that I am no longer a Radio Shack employee and kick me off the employee plan, making my bill jump by about $50-60 over what I've been paying. Virgin Mobile has this new "Beyond Talk" plan that is a much better fit for someone who doesn't talk very much and spends all day texting and surfing the web. So I waited until my money situation was a bit more stable and decided to go snag myself a new piece. I settled on the Rumor Touch, and so far I love it. But evidently Virgin was having an outage today and no one could text. After getting my phone I stopped by work to get a drink and show it to my coworkers, but none of my text messages were being sent. I went back to Radio Shack, he looked around on the website and found nothing, and I spent the next few minutes on the phone with someone from India. By the time I got home it was after 5:00, which made going to see Hannah pretty much impossible, so instead I invited Nici and James over and we watched a DVD and goofed off for a while. My texting is finally working now, and now I'm copying my address book over and looking online for cases and skins. Fun.

Well I guess that's about it for now. Sometime within the next few days I'll probably get around to posting my Best (and worst) of 2010 lists. Until then.....
