[The screen slowly resolves to reveal a very pretty young woman of about fourteen. She isn’t actually looking at the screen, however, nor does she seem to realize that anyone else can hear her. She looks in every direction before she begins to speak, her voice strained and angry, with hints of confusion.]

Juudai! Where are you? Has someone ...no, someone must have taken you as well. Where are you?

--I was going to ask you the same thing! I've been here for a while, actually...
Well, you must've just gotten here, right? I'll explain everything, I promise, just calm down, okay? I'm fine, really!

[He hesitates. Okay, that's... anything but a good sign.]

Well, there's something in there like a little red-and-white capsule that contains a creature that will defend you from the other, wild creatures that pop up on the way to the next city. It's called a Pokemon, and it'll be your partner for a while, so try to get along with it for now, okay?
It's a three-day walk to the city after the one you're in, so you'll kind of have to rough it for a while, but I... I think you've been through a lot worse than camping out before.

[She fiddles around in the bag and pulls out the Pokeball.] You mean this?
And of course I have. [There's a hint of "well, DUH" in her voice.]
