National Coming Out Day
In case anyone on the internet has missed it:
I am Kim and I am queerer than Salvador Dali after three shots of absinthe.
My biological orientation is bisexual, I experience attraction seldom enough to identify as asexual, and I prefer to stay out of the hetero meat market altogether, so I socialize as lesbian.
I also flunked out of Normative Femininity 101, even though I still identify as female more than androgyne.
And if I ever DO find someone I feel strongly enough about to take to bed, they will know damn well not to expect missionary or vanilla.
The first time I ever came out as bi or genderqueer or kinky, I was 14 and it has been an ongoing process ever since.
And a word to any teenagers out there in light of the recent suicides: you are doing the right thing by being who you are--whether that's queer or atheist or whatever else you get shit for. It will get better, if you continue to be true to yourself. The people who are trying so hard to please others and be what they're not by harassing you? It will get worse for them. They are not worth your precious life. You deserve all the good things in life that can come to you if you make it through the hell of high school.
