What I want to know is: why do we own this book in the first place?

At my current job, one of my major responsibilities is taking care of the interlibrary loans, incoming and outgoing.

For those of you who are not in the library field, these are the basics of how libraries share materials with one another: there's a gigantic library consortium called OCLC that maintains a database with literally a billion entries--titles of books, magazines, movies, etc, correlated to a database of libraries. So OCLC knows what everyone owns, and I log in each day to find libraries that have materials my patrons want and make borrowing requests, and to approve or deny requests coming in from other libraries for our materials.

Today I approved a request for this book:

.........I had no idea we even owned something so batshit crazy, although granted if you put Atlantean mercury vortex generators up against Glenn Beck's latest, it might fare relatively well in the comparison.

Still. Conspiracy theorists have their right to exchange ideas too, so I put it in a padded envelope and mailed it off to Kentucky.

librarianism, craaaaaazy, rl
