stars on a string, Nine/Rose (& Ten/Rose), PG
And I will give you the stars on a string.

A/N: I've never written poetry before. Ever. And for momentmusical, who inspires me by existing.

(He says)
Run.
Run with me,
And I will give you the stars on a string,
The universe at your feet, time and space,
The trappings of infinity.

(And my heart, but
Be careful, my love,
It’s fragile. Like your so human life and the teacups,
Rimmed in flowers, we use in the afternoons.
You take yours with milk and stardust, right?
One spoon or two?

But these are things
I will never tell you.)

I need a hand to hold and
Fingers splayed against the skin of my palm, my wrist, my cheek,
(My bare back, slick and warm, and you, you, you
Under my sheets.)
It’s all out there for the taking,
So here’s my hand and my smile,
And an offer I’d make to you time and time and
Time again, even though I know how it ends.

(It ends in the way it begins,
With a burning sun and loneliness
And the amaranthine passage of seconds.
And regrets.

I can.
I can’t.
I would, but
I never could
Say these things to you, and
Make them real.

So I am left with nothing
And with memories fleeting,
With your scent and the ghost of your footprints in the hall,
And words, words, words that could have and should have
Passed from my lips to your ear, to the slope of your neck,
And the delicate space between your breasts.)

Run.
Run with me,
And I will put the moon in your pocket,
History in your heart, and we will live, live, live,
Lifetimes in moments.
