She insists on taking him camping. He is not amused by the notion but she begs and begs until he can’t take it anymore and he reluctantly agrees. She runs off to the closet in delight, digging through everything until she finds a tent. Meanwhile he directs the TARDIS to some abandoned field by a river, far off from any civilization.

She makes him send the TARDIS away. “It’s for three days, and I don’t want to be tempted to cheat,” she had said.

And now they were here in the middle of nowhere and despite the huge fire outside she lay next to him shivering violently. Finally, not being able to stand her misery any longer, he got up and unzipped her sleeping bag.

“W-what are you d-doing?” she asked, her teeth clacking together.

“You’re cold,” was all he replied, sliding down into the sleeping bag next to her. She immediately curled up into him, her face pressed against his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and held her. Gradually her shivering subsided, but she didn’t move, save for turning her head so she could listen to his heartbeats.

Meanwhile, his one hand tangled and untangled in her hair. Every so often he’d pull his hand free and a few golden strands would stay; tangled in his fingers.

The next morning she begged him to bring the TARDIS back and he laughed at her good-naturedly.

“Adventure not quite shaping up to what you thought it would be?”

“I’ll take aliens any day,” she retorted, a wide grin on her face.
