You took that moment that was inexplicably cut from "Dalek" and ran with it didn't you?

I can completely believe that those were his thoughts. Completely!

Well done!

thanks very much! I totally love this ep, and I also loved xsilverxlightx's entry for the rewatch -- so I ran with scene she didn't take. :D

I actually had to go back and rewatch the beginning of the next ep -- to see that Rose had changed her clothes and put on her face -- before I realized that they didn't travel directly from the museum to Satellite Five with no intervening downtime. But this scene is at the height of the Doctor's emotional ordeal, so that suits me fine. It also gives an opportunity to explore why he insists on holding her, ahem, at arm's length, when even the Dalek knows he's head over heels.

Yay, shippy Dalek!!

Yay!

I watched that vid of Amy and Rory that you recc'd a while back and it totally made me cry. Pink's song was good too!

He pressed a kiss there and felt the ocean of love she held just waiting for him to dive into, and he imagined himself as the contaminant, spreading through Rose  until her shine was sullied.

He pushed her away, but only as far as arm's length, smiling at her through his burning eyes.

That part is very good. Poor Doctor. He does deserve her. Stupid man should realize he doesn't sully her. They make each other shine.

Lovely as ever.

thanks very much! I love this ep, and it took me forever to find a way in. Then at last I found the moment!!

I hope I didn't pound the parallels between the Doctor and the Dalek too hard. They seemed to be at the front of his mind. ;)

Oh, I love it too. Who doesn't love an emotional Doctor?

I don't think the parallel was too harsh. I think it was just right. There were similarities between the two in that episode, and you addressed them perfectly.

Breath-takingly gorgeous! This was so bittersweet! The last line and this- He pressed a kiss there and felt the ocean of love she held just waiting for him to dive into, and he imagined himself as the contaminant, spreading through Rose until her shine was sullied. - got to me. Such a perfect interpretation of the scene!

ETA:

Also, this: He needed her there, at arm's length, judging him, challenging him. He couldn't afford to blind her with the darknesses and glories she'd see inside him, as much as he longed for her presence there in the vacated chasms of his mind. This was just brilliant and I find it just a little ironic because the closer she gets to him, the brighter he gets (i.e. chirpy 10). Yes, he still has all that darkness within him, but he does become just that little less weighed down.

Thanks so much for your lovely comment! So glad you liked it!

It is sad that he keeps holding her off. Shippy as I am, I want them to fall into each other's arms right away! But I do think that their kiss on the Dalig Ulv Stranden might be their first -- he's just so perverse that way.
