Author's Note: Dalek is one of my absolute favorite episodes so I knew that I was going to want to write something for it even though I should be focusing on my NaNoWriMo fic. But then someone posted something on tumblr about wishing River could have comforted him after this episode

Absolutely gorgeous Nine/Rose. Such a pivotal episode in their relationship. I love how you filled in the blanks and captured this fleeting moment between them.
Loved this bit:
The Dalek had called her the woman he loved. Was he really that obvious? Though his mind is still whirling eventually her soothing touches and murmuring lull him back to sleep.

Yes, Nine. You were that obvious. (but so was she)

What a beautifully sweet and tender fic full of so much compassion. I love how Rose comforts the Doctor and takes control of the moment:
"I almost lost you again today," the Doctor replies, not exactly answering the question. Rose rolls onto her back suddenly, pulling him with her so he ends up with his head on her shoulder and half draped across her.

"But you didn't," she replies firmly. "I'm still here an' I'm not going anywhere."
"You should go back to your room," is his only reply.
"I'm not leaving you. Go back to sleep, Doctor," she tells him softly before kissing his forehead.

Dalek is one of the most important Doctor/Rose episodes. It really is a milestone and you have added to its emotional impact with this moment of comfort and caring.

Thank you! Dalek really is such an intensely emotional episode so it seemed like there would have to be lots of comforting afterwards even with Adam getting in the way. That hug scene that was tragically cut from the episode had me absolutely convinced that lots of intense cuddling was completely believable for them after that.

The look on Adam's face suggests that he's gotten the message the Doctor will swear he wasn't sending.

This is absolutely something I can see happening after Dalek. The whole fic. And it's lovely.

Thank you! Nine's possessiveness is really not half so subtle as he thinks it is. I'm glad you thought it was believable.

But then someone posted something on tumblr about wishing River could have comforted him after this episode and that made me angry so this happened.

What, what? Uh, he had a perfectly capable Rose to do just so. Why would he need River there? *Reads fic*

Hard to choose, but here are some of my favorite parts:

No. They give him a choice. The girl or his world. They want him to really suffer. He is frozen in horror. He waits too long and she won't turn around to look at him. She is watching his world end and he is sure that she is too disgusted because this is all his fault. And then they take her as well. The words "exterminate" echoing in his mind and he screams as the Dalek's metal arm takes aim and fires

Yes! I didn't understand the person's logic either. I was sorely tempted to spam them with gifs of the hug scene that was deleted from this episode because seriously no one could ever be as good for Nine as Rose was.

I'm really glad you liked the dreams. I wasn't sure how I wanted to handle them but then I was inspired by the pictures and hoped that it worked as well as I thought it did. Haha.
