My favorite fic, hands down, is "In Human Hands" by rallalon. I expect it'll get lots of mentions here. It's expertly written, wonderfully plotted, and completely epic.

Other favorites (please note that many [most?] of these contain smut):
Behind Closed Doors by ZephyrHawk
The Better With You series by ThroughanAmberFocus
Heritage by np_complete
Other Plans by JessaLRynn
Seed Pearls by HonorH
The Echo and the Fulcrum by donna_rose
Worlds in Conjunction by dark_aegis
House Carpenter by redknightalex ( ... )

I'm going to work on my own post tonight (I need to think about this), but .... "In Human Hands!" OMG THIS FIC. If there is one unresolved fic out there for which I'd sell my soul just to see it completed - THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS!

Seriously, the world will be a better place the day this fic is finished. I still believe ...

Speaking of unresolved fic ... did doona_rose post after the first chapter of "The Echo and the Fulcrum?" I never saw one beyond that - would love to know if she did!

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's fav fic lists - should be interesting! :D

I dunno. I think the world will sadly miss the mass of fangirls and fanboys sitting around wishing and hoping like kids clapping and believing in fairies. I don't even like the idea of WIPs, but there's just something magical about the way this piece of epic beauty just constantly teases that a next chapter might be out someday soon, and very occasionally rewards our patience.

I don't know. I don't mind waiting a few months between chapters, because IT IS SO WORTH IT.

However, it's been over a year now, and I'd like to get some kind of reassurance that the author hasn't lost interest. :(

EVERYTHING orange_crushed, rosa_acicularis, takethewords, and mylittlepwny HAS EVER WRITTEN.

Not specific enough? Ok, here goes. (Most of these are old, btw... I've been a bit behind on my reading lately).

A Very Hospitable Species (aka the best "alien sex pollen" smut fic ever written) by platypus.

Maturity (aka the fic that helped me deal with Journey's End) by orange_crushed

The Problem with Words (aka in which Melissa uses my love of rolled up shirtsleeves and a super sexy ending to kill me) by mylittlepwny

Days and Hours (aka the best reunion fic ever. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT. I SAID IT.) by rosa_acicularishttp://rosa-acicularis.livejournal.com/3616.html... )

To be honest I was never a great supporter of fanfiction until I was on tumblr and saw a short snippet of professor_spork's story accompanying a graphic. It had a link that led to this series of stories and I've been hooked ever since.

All five of them are so wonderfully written and I just ate them up. I can't really find the words to explain how much I loved them.

Also, Baying at the Moon is hands-down my favorite DW fic ever. ever. Also, unsurprisingly, by Leah.

I actually feel bad saying these because I know I need to leave feedback and posting them here indicates that I've clearly read them (…several times) and still haven't done so. It's just -- every time I go to leave feedback, it devolves into a keymash, capital letter, punctuation tornado and I don't want to look entirely crazy, so I back off and then the cycle repeats itself. My strange guilt complex, let me show it to you.

In any case, wishiknewwho's Both and its sequel, Miles to Go push every single button I have for Doctor Who fic (including ones I didn't even know needed pushing -- oh, hello, angsty bathroom sex, I must've missed you there) in the best possible ways. I don't even know how many times I've re-read all or part of them, but it's almost definitely more than any other fic.
