Days like these, she’s glad she didn’t get the job at Henrik’s. Her mum called her earlier about something strange-a bomb that had gone off in the basement? Set by a man in a leather jacket, a man the police’ve not been able to find? Something like that. No one’d be shopping there anytime soon.

She might not like working ( Read more... )

Hee, thank you! One is so crotchety that it entertained me. That line about tolerating this century is from one of his episodes (I'm not sure which) and I just had to use it here.

Thank you! I watched the very first episode recently and was surprised at how much I liked the First Doctor! He was just such a grumpy old man that it made me smile, and he had this attitude like humans were so annoying to him... but even if Susan got him into this mess with traveling companions, it was still clear he loved her. I wanted to play with that a bit and use that to have him connect with Rose, and finding out Susan's Gallifreyan name meant Rose just reinforced it. :)

this was great. I love their interaction. I hope Rose meets Nine after all!

Is it true that Susan's Gallifreyan name meant Rose? did she have a three part name -- is she Prydonian???? I need to look all this up. very fun!

Thank you! I found the bit about Susan on her wiki page: On her home planet of Gallifrey, the future "Susan Foreman" was born with another name, later revealed to be Arkytior, which meant "rose" in High Gallifreyan. It's from the novels and Doctor Who magazine, apparently, so no idea how canon it is, but I was so surprised by it that I had to incorporate it. I kind of wonder if it was intentional on RTD's part when he decided to name Rose. Probably not, but I can dream, LOL ( ... )
