As Though of Hemlock I Had Drunk

It comes after they’ve fled to the TARDIS, after they collapse to the floor in exhaustion and euphoria and exasperation all at once, cursing their pursuers but still madly in love with the exhilaration of it all. It comes when he least expects it, when he would think they’re finally safe, when he can let himself believe they’ve escaped another ( Read more... )

Thank you! "Boom Town" is one of my favorites, and for some reason that, the Keats line in the title, and the prompt just combined in my head to create this scenario. I couldn't resist that little dig at the end, though it breaks my heart, too! (I figured that if I was going to torture the Doctor I should just go all in...)

O hai there. Come here often? ;)

(because she is his; he doesn’t know when he started thinking of her that way, but if he is her Doctor then she is his Rose) This is such a simple truth, and perfectly placed.

He stares for another second, dumfounded, his breathing speeding to an impossible rate before he laughs joyously, and before he can stop himself he leans in and kisses her lips, amazed that she’s alive, still with him, that the hand holding his is squeezing back and that the other arm is looping around his neck.

GOD. Gorgeous first kiss. Perfect and new and strange, completely instinct. Love love love it.

Thank you! I debated on the kiss for quite a few minutes, but ultimately I decided to put it in because he would just be so happy she's alive. Plus I just want to think they had at least one kiss where both of them were actually aware it was happening! ;)

Welcome, dearie!

Great job, I'm a sucker for hurt/comfort. The beginning was very tense, and Ten's reaction was great. I was totally wrapped up in his panic.

Looking forward to more from you!

Update: Also, that kiss is gold.

Hello!! So glad you're posting here - I love your work as you know, and this is no exception!

She smiles, and the relief on her face grips his hearts so tightly he almost wants to cry, and he resolves to forget these three miserable days for the rest of his existence. Three days is nothing compared to all the days he has had with her-and all the days to come.

=( =( =(

Gutted =(

Hey! As always, thank you so much for taking the time to read my stuff. :) I just got accepted here yesterday, so I was really excited/scared to start writing here! (Although I do feel bad about killing so many spirits with that last line!)

And then I hit the end and it's like a sucker punch to the guts, knowing that they're going to be seperated forever so very very soon.

OUCH.

This whole fic was so tense and coiled, I loved how the release of that tension ended with the Doctor being unable to contain himself and his relief and leaping in for a kiss. And of course Rose doesn't even comment on it, she just knows that he's obviously had it rough and asks how long she's been under for.

Gods I love these two.

I'm glad the tension came through that way! This was a bit more stream-of-consciousness than I was used to working with, and I tried to work through how the panic would develop naturally. And isn't kissing the best way to relieve all that tension? I think so! ;)
