Love. Hope. Time. Magic., Ten2/Rose, PG, The universe fills her dance card, but every dance appears to be for him alone.  He's too selfish to want to change that. (400 words)

She is a goddess caught on fire, come down to Earth. She touches him, leaving golden sparks shimmering through his body. He’s a man who’s lived a long time, yet before her power he feels like nothing more than a child. She is ancient and forever when once he thought only he could hold that title. She speaks to him in a language he doesn’t know when he should know every language. Maybe once upon a time he knew this one, too, for he begins to recognize it in the touch of her body. Love, he thinks. Hope. Time. Magic.

She laughs at him, and with him, and at him again. Every look, every movement, every slide of skin on skin healing a piece of him that had been left outside too long. A black rose brought back to life by a red one, losing its brittleness, dropping its thorns. He can be beautiful. She makes him beautiful. She makes him want to be a better man, not just for her, but for the universe. He sighs under her hands, trying to catch her light in his fingers to save for later. It’s fleeting, slipping through them with radiant defiance.

It’s a mistake to try to contain her, to keep her always with him. She belongs to everything, to everyone, to the light of the sun. The universe fills her dance card, but every dance appears to be for him alone. He’s too selfish to want to change that. Once he had everything at his fingertips. Now all he has is this burning world of her plus him and he can’t give that up. He won’t give that up. Instead he lets her fire burn him, lets her consume him, using his own love, hope, time, magic, to heal her.

She lays with him afterwards, transcendent, pulsing, content. She doesn’t speak to him, doesn’t ask him questions about what just happened or why it happened. She’s learned to take everything on faith when it comes to him, for what is faith but just another form of magic hoped for and sometimes found? The glow is slow to leave her and even after it’s gone, he sees a lingering amount of starlight in her eyes. Unspoken words whisper between them. Fidelity, loyalty, undying perseverance. Above all of these, love that fills every corner. He will never let go of her hand.
