Regaining a Foothold, TenII/Rose, light Adult

The Doctor walked out of the room and Rose slipped a little deeper into the water. She really should run the faucet and get some hot water back in the tub, but she had no real desire to do so. He only needed to move a little to the left and…

“Oh,” Rose breathed.

Then in unison they both orgasmed before relaxing into the cool water of the tub.

“Well, I seem to still have it,” the Doctor murmured with hooded eyes as he rubbed Rose’s left foot. “Though it’s hard to lose it when it’s really only been a few years since we last made love after my few hundred year drought.”

Rose cocked her head a bit.

“There was no one else?”

“Why would there be?” The Doctor asked as he frowned. “You were it, Rose. I loved you. No, love you. Still do. Will always. He will too. Just possibly he might let go at some point. Not because he wants to, but because…” He clicked his jaw closed at Rose’s confused look. “Never mind.”

“Doctor…”

“Rose, I can’t explain. Not right now.”

“Okay,” Rose said, hearing the slight anguish tinting his tone. She really didn’t want to ruin the moment.

“Was there anyone else for you?”

“No,” Rose answered. “There couldn’t be. I was in love with you.”

She didn’t mention that it wasn’t like she didn’t find ways to pleasure herself to memories of him over the years they’d been separated and made a note to possibly get rid of those items that helped. Or use them on him. It would only be fair after how he had used his rubber ducky.

“Poor Ducky,” the Doctor murmured as he picked up the object floating near his knee. “He’s never going to be the same again. Of course, I’ll never be able to watch Sesame Street again so I think we’ll be even.”

“What are you going on about?” Rose inquired.

“Sesame Street,” the Doctor repeated. “That American children’s show with Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. Ernie has a rubber ducky that he sings to.” He squeezed the duck, but only a wheeze escaped its beak. “I believe we may have broken him.”

“You can get yourself a new one,” Rose told him. She shifted a bit in an attempt to get comfortable, but two adults in the tub was making that difficult.

“Rose Tyler, this tub was not made for two,” the Doctor informed her as he made a face. “And the water is beginning to feel disgusting. Think about what we just did, Rose.”

“What we did three times,” Rose reminded him.

“And it was brilliant,” the Doctor returned with a grin. “Except I’ve got to get out.” He pushed himself to his feet then leaned down to kiss Rose before stepping out of the tub and grabbing a towel. He began to wrap it around his waist. “Now, you stay there, Rose Tyler. I don’t want you disappearing on me.”

“Where would I go?” Rose replied.

“I don’t know,” the Doctor responded with a worried tone. “But I don’t want to think I’ve just dreamed all this. That I’m back on the TARDIS and you’re…” He shook his head then sternly pointed at the blonde. “Stay there.”

“Yes, sir,” Rose muttered with a half-hearted salute that only earned her a small frown.

The Doctor walked out of the room and Rose slipped a little deeper into the water. She really should run the faucet and get some hot water back in the tub, but she had no real desire to do so. Especially not when she was preoccupied with the fact that the Doctor was already acting so oddly and it had only been two days since the beach. Sex wasn’t going to magically make everything fall into place, but after being separated for so long and her worrying that he had left her again, it was a nice reassurance.

“I lied.”

Rose tilted her head back to look at the Doctor standing behind her with a guilty expression on his face.

“What?” She straightened up. “What did you lie about?”

“What I had in my pockets,” he told her. “I had something else. He’d left it laying out in his bedroom since he had taken to stop carrying it after you ended up here. I grabbed it when I put on the suit.”

“Doctor, I need more than that,” Rose said.

He nodded then knelt down next to the tub before placing a small red velvet box on the side. He stared at it for a moment before looking at her.

“Are you asking me?” Rose inquired. “Because you need to actually ask, Doctor.”

“I was going to asking you,” the Doctor informed her. “Many years ago. Before we landed on a planet underneath a black hole. I wasn’t afraid of settling down with you, Rose. I was afraid you’d have no desire to settle down with a broken alien that really had nothing to offer except pain and heartache. I especially didn’t want you to feel forced if we hadn’t gotten out of there because I was the only thing you had left.”

“I loved you, you idiot. I still love you,” Rose stated firmly as she reached out and put a hand on his cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned into her touch. “I would have said yes. And you had plenty to offer me, Doctor. I didn’t have much to give you. You showed me the stars and all I had was memories of a boring life.”

She removed her hand and his eyes popped open, wide, loving and reassuring.

“No, Rose. You can’t believe that. You should not believe that for one second, Rose Tyler. You had so much to give me. It’s why I sent you away on Satellite Five. I couldn’t keep taking and give you nothing in return.”

“It’s amazing we got anywhere,” Rose commented with a sad smile. “You thought you were taking too much and I didn’t think I was giving enough.”

“Then we should fix that,” the Doctor replied. “I’ll tell you when I think I’m taking too much of you and you tell me when you think you’re not doing your fair share. It’s what normal couples do, yeah? Tell each other when there’s a problem, right?”

“We don’t have to be normal, Doctor,” Rose told him. “But, yes, I see your point. It’s definitely something we should work on.”

“Brilliant,” the Doctor said. He opened the small box revealing a shiny gold band holding a jewel Rose had never seen before in her life. “Now, will you marry me?”

“No,” Rose answered.

“No?” The Doctor repeated with a frown that turned into a pout and his brown eyes reflected the pain of the rejection. “But…no?”

“No,” Rose told him. “At least not now. We have a few things to work on, Doctor. And they’re not going to be solved by sex in this bath.”

“I already told you that I’m not leaving,” the Doctor returned. “What else is there?”

“A lot, Doctor,” Rose replied. “Where are you going to work? And the shopping? Have you ever used a washing machine?”

“Rose,” the Doctor interjected. “I told you just a short two hours ago, while you clung to my pillow, that I’m not going anywhere. And if that means learning how to work a washing machine then I’ll do it. I do not back away from a challenge, Rose Tyler. Occasionally, I’ll run away, but I usually have really good reasons for that.” He grabbed Rose’s hands. “I’m not going to change my mind, Rose. I want all of this. I’ve always wanted this. It’s the adventure I wanted with you.”

“Yeah?”

“Why would I lie to you?” The Doctor asked quietly. “You’re all I’ve got here, Rose. Well, you and my amazing brain, but my brain is only good for reminding me of what a pillock I’ve been for a very long time. You, at least, like to tell me that I’m a wonderful, smart and handsome man with great hair and excellent snogging skills.”

Rose smiled.

“So, do you believe me?”

“It’s impossible not to,” Rose informed him. “However, my answer is still no. At least not yet. I will say yes. Just ask me a bit later. Perhaps a few months from now. I do suggest, though, you keep that in a safe place and far from my mum. Once she sees it our wedding will cease to be our wedding and become Jackie Tyler’s dream wedding.”

“Ah,” the Doctor murmured. He snapped the box closed and looked at Rose. “What now?”

“Well, first I need a shower because this water is disgusting,” Rose told him. “And, second, I thought we could go out for chips.”

“I like chips. Specifically, I like eating chips with you.”

“Then it’s a good thing I like eating chips with you, isn’t it?”

The Doctor grinned then gave Rose a quick kiss before he stood back up.

“I’ll let you get to your shower.”

“Doctor.”

“Yes, Rose?”

“Who said I was going to take it alone?”
