Nice. This back-and-forwards non-linear approach works really well here. The fic has a great tempo. I also like that you actually explored the fact that Rose has clearly changed quite a bit between Doomsday and The Stolen Earth.

Thank you! Yes, Rose does change quite a bit, doesn't she? I usually like to just completely avoid that fact, since I was very disturbed by this when the shows aired (as in "Oh noes, not our fluffy lovely Rose! She can't go all military BAMF like the others he leaves behind!"), however I thought it was time to embrace the change and just MF deal with it!

Glad you enjoyed it :)

Thanks! Yes, busy--always busy. The backlog challenges are KILLING me, but I'm plugging away. I'm glad you liked it.

In thinking it through I decided that they would have to, eventually, somehow. And in a way, both Pete and Jackie have a mirror image of acceptance in that Jackie hates the idea and then comes around and Pete is initially not very invested in keeping her from it, and then discovers his fatherly feelings and becomes more resistant to it. Either way, I think they both see how determined and downright miserable she is and let go, because sometimes that's what parents have to do, no matter how much it hurts.

Oh, this is-- awesome. Just awesome.

Somehow, she prefers to believe that when he said, “you can’t” on the beach he meant 'not the way you are now.'

Oh, Rooooooooooose. My girl.

ruth is, she wonders if she can turn this off once she finds him again. In a way, she’s regenerated herself-at least internally-and she placed a rather large wager that her love for him could make her whole again, if she is indeed broken.
She bet her soul. She tries not to think about what he’s bet, or if he’s bet at all.

This is just... strikingly beautiful. And very, very true.

Yes, Rose on a mission--even in a parallel world no one dares get in her way! Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it!

Wow. The underlying rhythm in this fic was amazing. I mean, I loved the story, but there was...like a drumbeat underneath it, sort of driving it along.

I love the way Rose changes in this from that soft girl who was strong, but broken, to this tough woman who works hard and does whatever it takes to get what she wants. I liked how Pete came to be so proud of her and how Jackie never really accepted what she was doing, because I don't think Jackie would ever want to accept that she might be permanently parted from Rose.

And I really liked that she knew she was back before she even opened her eyes at the end.

Ooo! A drumbeat. I like that. Like her obsession? Or her own single heartbeat? Neat-o. I dig layers, even if I didn't fully intend them! I'm glad you liked it, thank you!
