First we start with this building on the campus I work at:

1970:



2008:



I can't get back to get more in the shot because the entire area is now covered by buildings.

This campus was once Tamiami Airport.

1950s:


The airport was shut down in the 60s because its traffic was interfering with the pattern at MIA (Miami International). FIU campus construction began in the 1970s.

1971:



Notice the runways in the background, and the airfield control tower to the right.

Construction of the campus was well underway by the 1980s.

1980s:


Today, there is barely a trace of the airfield remaining.

2008:


The only remaining trace is the aforementioned control tower.
