I am back from Ireland and it was good. I will give you the highlights since most of it was just sitting around watching movies.

It snowed. Like serious snow that hasn't hit Ireland like that in about 20 years. We were trapped at whose ever house we could get to before dark because the roads were sheer ice, especially a problem since all my relatives literally live in the middle of nowhere. I was staying with my aunt and her water pipes froze so we were melting snow for tea and bathing was out of the question.

Things have changed a lot since I was last there 3 years ago. Example: every cousin over the age of eighteen has a car. This makes sense what with the living in the middle of nowhere and the fact that they all have full time jobs and stuff, but it still surprised me. It's pretty awesome though. My cousin Dan and I ran around in his little Audi on Christmas Eve, visiting family and his friends. At about 5pm he pulled up in front of a pub and said, "I'm going for a pint, do you want to come?" and I wasn't going to stay in the car obviously so I went in with him. He and his friends are already middle aged men. At the ripe old age of 21.

I hadn't seen my aunt in eight years and she has two young children I had never met. They were wary at first but were eventually climbing me and showing me all their Christmas presents, although I'm still not sure what Ben 10 is.

My granny and I did shots on Christmas Day (her idea) which is something I never expected to do.

Boxing Day is the big going out night there. More than NYE, even, so we went out on Boxing Night. My cousins knew I was skint and were amazing and bought me all my drinks and tried to do it without me knowing but failed miserably. They're super sweet, and I hope they visit Glasgow so I can do the same for them. I had a great night although I would have preferred to have been more boozed.

I got home yesterday to find a package had been delivered with Christmas presents from 25 Maitland. All were Canadian themed except for a book of pick-up lines from Claire. And then today I got three postcards from my sister. The first one I flipped over just said "I won't go back to the sea, whatever's pulling you isn't pulling me," (which is from a Futureheads song), the second one the lyrics to "I've Just Seen a Face" and the third the lyrics to "A Man Walked Into a Bar" by Jens Lekman. Basically my sister is amazing and I can't wait to send her one in reply.

Going out with Jade for NYE tomorrow night, hoping we get into the club since all the tickets were sold out!

more booze plz!, ireland
