So Hotmail is being a bitch again.

I swear, if this keeps up, I'm changing for gmail *shudders* I think I've been needing a new email for long now, anyway.

On a completely different note, I hate, and I mean, hatehatehate, how Hakkai is on the English dub of Saiyuki. I mean, seriously. Great way to kill a character. Then we are surprised ( Read more... )

Which dub!Hakkai are you talking about? ADV or Geneon?

I know that ADV!Hakkai swore sometimes and that always bothered me, but besides that I thought he was fine.

Better than the Geneon butchery job.

(I'm also of the belief that translations can never be exact so yes sometimes they go for the gist of it and not the actual literal translation, especially when it comes to lipsynching, but I do know ADV had issues with that for the first 10 episodes of Gensomaden or so.)

Geneon!Hakkai is just terrible, isn't he? I mean, I get that you're not going to be able to get a perfect translation, especially when you're trying to match lip flaps, and given that there are some things in Japanese that just don't translate well into English. But between the lines and the direction of the Geneon dub they totally failed to capture Hakkai's personality. Same with Yaone. It made me sad. :(
