It's finally begun, a dream come true for this wayward Prairie boy.
Snow. Let me repeat that beautiful word: snow. Thick, silent flakes have begun to descend upon my neighbourhood tonight, and in less than two hours my world has been gloriously (albeit only temporarily) transformed.
Walking home after work tonight, I stopped and took off my jacket. Soon I was rewarded with frozen white, the cold air creeping across my back. It felt remarkable, like a private, furtive moment with a lover, a secret to be hidden away from the rest of the world like a precious stone. It felt real. I closed my eyes, raised my head upwards and simply whispered into the night: "Thank-you. Thank-you. Thank-you." Pictures! Such a good night! Amazing how it feels like so long ago, especially in contrast to the scene outside my window right now.
Many more pictures from the parade can be found at their Flickr site.
Go and enjoy.
