Greeting card at Doctor Vigari's Gallery on Commercial Drive. This would be the beauty ....
Sign in a dollar store in Burnaby. And this would be the beast. They got it half right, I guess, although it really looks more like they were just hedging their bets. Which just makes it even more ridiculous. Maybe I'll just print off copies of that Bob the Angry Flower poster and hand them out wherever I see this sort of thing. Maybe they'd appreciate it, but I doubt it.
Another day off from work, another day spent being largely unproductive. At least I get to enjoy a lovely wind storm right now. Strong winds always send a spark of excitement up and down my spine. I did manage to get out and grab some groceries, work a bit more on some poetry-type stuff, and find a place nearby where I can get passport pictures done, although at this point I doubt I'm going to make it to Seattle in April, and yes, it's my own damned fault. I could never be self-employed. No self-discipline that way.
I do like where the poetry is going, though, the one part of my Wednesday that felt even remotely satisfying. Watching/listening to other poets is inspiring. I just need to edit the hell out of what I write, whittle it down to its bare essentials, part of that whole 'less is more' idea that I heard about in University. The creative process is fun, although frustrating at times. I remember this feeling from the music I wrote last year. Part of my problem is just getting the ideas out before I forget them.
(Hey,
cloven_fruit! The other week Norman and I were bandying about the idea of a Poetry Slam in Surrey. There must be at least one or two people out there who would be interested in this, yes? Do you think your dad would be interested in hosting something like this? Has he done stuff like this before?)
