...I guess I just never really thought about what that means until now. I'm done. I could literally be starting the rest of my life starting tomorrow. College is over. Wow
While it's not exactly true that I'll be done with school (grad school!), I still should recognize that, all that fun stuff...the reasons why college is suppose to be the best years of your life...it's coming to a close.
This journal has (so far) been a dutiful recording of my time here at the LSU. It's been here for the beginnings at the WLV/ELV. Hating the physics that caused me so much anguish that first and second semester, but all the while learning the tools I'd need to do well in school. Random movie nights, cancer-causing asbestos, and hoards of smarty pants. The journal recorded my first summer back at home and my morning my sudden lost freedoms. Then on to my re-newed band nerdom with Linda and her Golden Band. My first (and last) pregames. The two years of living in the on-campus apts and the one year living in the ghetto to now living in a respectable quad dwelling. Going from having 40 roommates to 3 really awkward ones to...Richard Simmons (can I describe him any better than his name?). My journey to Europe and the crazy-ass football season that followed, SEC Champions, and National Champions. My first summer spent in the Baton Rouge working for the state of LA. Turning 21 and becoming a little obsessed with casinos and the good liquid (all of these summers filled with really awesome movies, like Wanted, Dark Knight, Harry Potter(s), Transformers,...and others). Heading a team of mis-fits to build a canoe (made of concrete) all while taking way too many classes. To finally, leaving the band, observing LSU's descent into football suck-dom, getting slightly drunk for every game while tailgating, following the band like a lost puppy, completing a kick-ass senior project, and now...to graduate.
Another summation, using numbers (my favorite!):
165 total hours earned....23 advance standing (orientation testing, AP credits, etc)...6 earned at other institutions (3 from South Alabama and 3 from Southern University)...and 6 earned through correspondence courses.
134 counted toward my major degree, Civil Engineering. The other 31 were...all in good fun? I did get a minor in mathematics, but only 3 or the 31 counted toward that. The others are either useless advance standing classes, band credits, or some other random stuff.
I managed to keep a 3.79 through it all, meaning I will wear the purple cords of a Cum Laude tomorrow (0.1 away from Magna...sorta sad)
Tomorrow...I'll be a college graduate.
