Decision made

After a brief talk with Mr. Tommy, I decided I understood what it was about the book that felt so familiar.

A good bit of it is about feeling like an alien in your own hometown, and seeking identity. It wasn't until nearly the end of the book that I was able to discern that who was actually able to keep Klaus & Lucas straight (always the author, usually Klaus, occasionally the mother, and it varies with the reader. Anyone else seems blind). And they never really felt anything but abandoned by their families. But they were able to relate to the other aliens, at least a bit, and for a little while it seemed like Lucas had a home. Saying more would, again, ruin it, but the book also touched on perception/identity- like with me, where I've understood for years how my mother is ashamed of who I actually am so she's built up an imaginary Jake in her mind to love.

Yes, I did vaguely spawn this idea by re-reading Nowhere Girl, which I still find as an amazing one chapter story and recommend this to anyone who hasn't read it on my previous recommendations.

And I'm gonna re-read the book as my next step. I'm spending a fair bit of time in Hospital waiting rooms lately (Dad & Uncle, semi-planned surgery that's done & upcoming Chemotherapy), so I've got time to read. After I'm done with that I'll give y'all another update.
