Clean Clothes

Dec 30, 2008 10:54

My sister (and thus, my townhouse) got a washer & dryer last night. Hand-me-downs from Dad, who was getting a new one. I replaced the hoses, tubes, etc, last night, and tested 'em out this morning.

Washer:
Warm water when you ask for it, cold when you ask... No leaks... runs the whole cycle, spins, and removes detergent. I'm pretty sure it works,
Dryer:
Spins and warms stuff up. It was still damp, but it was also tested on towels & bedsheets, so it'll probably work on a regular load. It was more dry going out than coming in.

Also, Boots (the giant, year-old lhasa) is terrified of them. As he fears all nouns except ham, this means they're probably real, rather than a shared delusion. My clothes may really be cleaner soon.

EDIT:
Also, I saw Milk last night. The stereotypically-gay Latino Lover & the gratuitous nudity were both annoying (especially 'cause you don't see anything good). His actual lover (James Franco, playing Scott Smith) is actually rather adorable, but makes up less than half the total nudity. It spent too long setting up the story before it actually started the story- which I understand was the only way to make James Franco important, but still...

The rest of the movie was great. It gets an overall "pretty good" rating. I would describe it as "All the King's Men done well." To give a spoiler, the story is EXACTLY the same, except with homosexuals replacing golddigging wives. I personally liked Huey Long's personality more than most folk, though. Also, it convinced me to see Slumdog Millionare ASAP. You may be getting a report on that soon.
