Jubes knew that she was giving herself away as she checked the clock again for the umpteenth time but it wasn't her fault that the hands seemed to be inching along at an agonizingly slow pace! Biting back a frustrated sigh, she raked her hands through her hair as she took another second or two to try composing herself but she couldn't help the anxiety that was leaving her all tense and worried as she waited for some kind of news or for the team that had gone to Alkali Lake to come back.
Mainly, she was waiting for John.
Over the last few weeks, she had gotten close to him and while she knew that going along on this mission was a big deal to him, it still worried her. Don't get her wrong, she was proud of him and the fact that he had been included but it meant nearly no sleep for her while they were away. Yes, she was worried about Logan too but she knew that the older man was nearly invincible while John was not. There were any number of things that could happen to him and she wasn't there to watch his back. Not that she thought the others were incapable of doing so but she would have just felt ten times better if she could have gone along too but, no, she wasn't included. Not that she had really asked beyond mentioning it to John but she knew it would have been impossible to gain permission from either the Professor or Erik. As far as she knew, she was still on their shit list and so she didn't try. Instead, she stayed behind and worried.
Glancing at the clock again, she lingered near the stairs while wondering where the hell they were. She didn't want to look like a freak waiting by the front door but she literally didn't know what to do with herself at the moment. Grumbling a bit, she took a step to head up the stairs but then she found herself turning around again. Maybe she would get a drink or find something else to do to keep herself occupied. Anything to keep her from trying to find a way to Alkali Lake just to see what was holding them all up.
