[Open] Change for better or worse?

She hadn't brought attention to the fact that she was back again, having a strong feeling that someone likely would be disappointed. It seemed inevitable that she was going to sadden someone and the thought frustrated her. It wasn't as if she wanted her younger self to feel alienated, but the changes she had went through over the past forty years ( Read more... )

Erik walked into the kitchen looking for coffee himself. Noticing Raven, he gave her a brief nod.

"Morning."

He passed her to get to the coffee, not paying her much more attention than that. It wasn't that he didn't like Raven when she was younger, but he didn't feel a real connection to her either. She was Charles' sister.

He poured his coffee and took a sip, then went to the bread box.

"Do you want some toast?" he asked as he took out a loaf.

The moment Erik entered the kitchen she glanced over to him and nodded back. "Morning." She said simply, inwardly grimacing at the lukewarm reception. Though honestly she had been expecting it. It had taken her years to really get to know him the first time around.

It almost made her wish she could have left a message for her younger self; so she could have an idea how to handle situations with Erik. Or so she could at least know that he didn't hate her. It wasn't as if her younger self knew his moods yet.

"No, but I wouldn't mind a proper welcome back." Raven told him, lifting an eyebrow at him.

Erik stopped. It was a long, almost disbelieving, moment before he turned to look at her.

If he was absolutely sure it was true, he'd have crossed the room in two strides, but there was a tiny spark of doubt. Raven - younger Raven - had a mischievious streak and maybe she was playing a joke on him.

He glanced at the door. Nobody was around. It would only take a second.

"Show me."

She couldn't help but be amused by his reaction. His older self had had a similar reaction when he saw her. Even the hesitation was almost the same. Lightly she shook head, though her expression was clearly amused.

"What? You don't believe me?" She asked, with a small chuckle even as her appearance shifted into her blue form. "Believe me now?"

There was an immediate release of some of the tension in his features; a subtle shift in his expression and bearing that someone who knew him less well might not be able to detect. But Raven would. It was relief.

He did cross the room then, slipping his arm around her waist in one smooth motion to pull her into a kiss.

Seeing the subtle shifts in his expression was enough of a signal for her to put her cup down on the counter, before she found herself pulled into a kiss. She moved her hands to lightly grasp his face, kissing him back.

After a moment she pulled away, shifting back to the young human face again. "I gather you missed me then." She stated more than asked.

He let out a small huff, followed by "Of course I did. Where have you been?"

"Technically it was the time I come from, but it was completely different from what I remember." Raven said with a bit of grimace.

Erik frowned.

"Different how?" he asked carefully.

"Well you and Charles were working together, but the war with the humans had gotten a lot worse. Tensions were running high." She stated with a sigh.

He stepped back far enough to lean on the counter and look at her properly.

"Explain."

"We were still considered terrorists. Erik, our side was doing damage...but we were still struggling to win." She said leaning against the counter.

"Why? What was making it so difficult? Did the humans have some sort of weapon?" he asked.

If all the mutants were united, how could the humans be any match for them?

"If I had the answers I would tell you. It's been pissing me off all week. We both know that humans will always fight when they existence is on the line. They're like roaches in that respect." Raven replied with a frown.

She wished she had more solid answers for him, but she didn't unfortunately.

"Of course they'll fight, but they must have some means of resistance to be any trouble to us at all."

Stryker. He must have come up with a weapon.

"What sort of defenses had we prepared?"

"I'm not exactly sure what they were cooking up, but several of the targets we were taking out were genetic labs." Raven told him. "I wasn't able to get more information on what the labs were doing, but we both know if we're attacking the place nothing good is going on there."

She picked up her coffee cup and took another drink. Finding herself getting agitated over the whole mess all over again.

"...If a Worthington labs exist in this time, it might be worth keeping an eye on." She mentioned, pinching the bridge of her nose.
