So, I got the new Alkaline Trio CD and I'm disappointed. Jerry Flinn managed to ruin my favorite band (folks, if you don't think that the producer has an influence on what the final album turns out sounding like listen to this album!). Sigh. On the other hand, I got the At The Drive-In anthology and it kicks major ass.
I got my official congratulations form for my fellowship in the mail yesterday. They describe it as being awarded for "outstanding portfolio presentation." Ha. I'm glad that I'm in sound design, because obviously they ignored the lack of asthetic appeal that my sharpie labeled CD had. At least it was in a pretty jewel case. I just wish that the school had given me ANY financial aid. When I called to yell at my admissions counsellor, she was like "Well you got the full amount for stafford loans." Lady, that isn't financial aid. I have to pay that back! Secondly, I made ten grand last year and I'm currently waiting tables for a living and not making enough to pay my rent; how the hell am I supposed to pay for grad school?! She finally said that she'd send me this application for a grant for students "exhibiting great financial need." The other option she gave me was to take the GREs and try to get an academic fellowship. Yeah, right. I'm math stupid. There's a reason that I didn't waste the cash to take the GREs in the first place. People piss me off.
I'm trying to get everything together to fly to Savannah on Saturday. I'm a little apprehensive, but I'll survive. I'm meeting with the advisor for SCAD's student radio station while I'm down there; I'm applying to be the program director. It'd be pretty kick-ass cause they pay their executive staff, unlike WRGW. I have to get my air-check and resume together as well so that I can apply for a job at the rock station down there. God I miss working in radio!
I seriously have to get a new job. Antonio, my boss is giving me the worst shifts. Like last night (a Saturday night mind you) I made a whopping $40. I sat there for two hours without a single table. It sucked ass.
