Ok...my friend and I got REALLY bored today so we had this discussion about the Diamondbacks and the excellent day off they had today. I decided to turn that conversation into a press release. This is it here. I warn you, if you don't know much about the Diamondbacks, it won't make sense.

August, 26, 2004…
Phoenix, Arizona

The Diamondbacks really had their best stuff working tonight as they completed a rare victory. It was, by far, their best performance of the season. Everyone came together and played as a team. Randy Johnson had the plane over the runway perfectly all night. He had it doing everything he wanted. That plane would climb, dip or break seemingly at his will. He only had one major slip up. In the seventh inning, with one out, he lost control of a pitch and it hit the stewardess. Randy immediately charged from the pit and argued emphatically that the stewardess had leaned into the pitch. Johnson and Manager Al Pedrique were both ejected from the airplane. After the game, Pedrique said, “What can I say? It’s a long way to the bottom.” Johnson was not pleased either. “I was simply arguing a call. There was no need for me to be tossed out in that manner. There was no reason at all for it!” The only other base runner came on the daily error by Alex Cintron. Alex missed a very easy grab on Shea Hillenbrand’s bag on the luggage carousel. Past those two, not another runner even reached base. Johnson was as close to perfect as you can be without actually being perfect before he was ejected. It was really a special thing to see.
The Diamondbacks scored their lone run at the end of the game. It was a truly exciting moment. It came on a thrilling inside-the-state homerun. It was hit from the hotel, then the team reached the airport, took off for the plane, rounded the airport, and in a dramatic play at the plate, the bus slipped in just under the cab to score the run. It was a truly amazing moment. One final game note, a rather bizarre thing happened with two men out in the second inning. Randy Johnson reared back the throttles and fired a fastball. In a very awkward occurrence, a bird flew into its path. The bird ended up mortally wounded in the Ohio River.

In other Diamondbacks news, Luis Gonzalez was placed on the DL after the game this evening. He suffered a broken neck after discovering that objects in the overhead bins do in fact shift during flight. Gonzo was going back after a well hit bag when it shifted position and hit him in the neck. He had to leave the game after that. He did, however, make the catch. Aside from that, there is little more news at this time. In a post-game press conference, Al Pedrique said, “The team was amazing. I’d really like to see this kind of crisp play more often. I think next time we may go with the right handed airplane in this match-up, though. Johnson was absolutely brilliant, but I’d like to mix things up.” Johnson was quoted as saying, “I think I’m going to work with a different set of planes next time. Maybe throw a bit faster.”

As you can see...It's been a slow and boring day. I'm hoping for a change in that soon. Ashley and I are gonna hang out tomorrow and Mike and are are gonna just "cruise it" on Sunday. One last bit...my mom's back from Colorado Springs so that's pretty awesome.
