started the job at Salty Dog yesterday. it's not as bad as I thought it could be. lots of frying, some prep work and cleaning. Megan, the girl who was training me, and I listened to music and hung out most of the time. The perks are kind of nice - I can eat whatever I want while I'm on the clock (and they have Boca burgers that they never use, and all the mozz sticks and fries I can eat. based on my previous experience of working at a restaurant, I'm going to guess that I gain at least five pounds this summer) and I get a free drink at the end of my shift. I ended up sitting around for about an hour and a half while I waited for the manager to show up, as I didn't have a number to clock in with or, well, any info. I didn't know for sure what he looked like, so I just smiled at any short, goateed fellows that I happened to make eye contact with. this was a decidedly good strategy. he came over, asked me how it went (awesome!), if I had ever worked in a kitchen before (nope), admitted to me that he had hired me because I was Sarah's friend (I figured), asked if I had ever waited tables (nope) and if I wanted to (I'd love to). I guess I passed the 'cute' test. Then we went to look at the kitchen schedule. tomorrow? (um, sure.) I didn't want to seem unavailable, so I volunteered to work from 8-12 tonight. during Lost. I'll catch the melodrama later, I guess.

I find that my summer classes are really, really difficult to get interested in. It may just be the classes, though
