Five double drabbles, each exactly 200 words long. None of them are particularly slashy - the first three could be depending on how you interpret them. Again, the Charlie/Liam is not a Pacecest fic so is squick free ( Read more... )

Again, the Charlie/Liam is not a Pacecest fic so is squick free.

*pouts slightly* But! *perks up for Charlie/Locke & Charlie/smack* ;)

1. "Hook" - Very potent and a bit frightening in its plausibility per canon. Charlie is an anachronism, pushing away one type of faith yet giving into others so freely, such that I loved this:

He wonders how someone so betrayed by those closest to him can still accept the words of another without questioning them.

2. "Mute" - What I love about the Charlie & Hurley dynamic is that they both have or have had secrets, unpleasant ones, that they mask via humor. I think they're closer than they at first appear. Also this phrase could not speak greater volumes than it does:

violence held tight inside

So deceptively simple, but it nails the emotion.

3. "Arrhythmia" - This stood out, pulsed in fact:

but he knows deep down that what he is doing is finding comfort in the warmth of Charlie’s skin, in the ripple of movement as Charlie swallows and in the beat of Charlie’s heart translated to his fingers by ( ... )

Fear not my lovely for there will be Pacecest in the near future, possibly even the very near future, (muse dependant of course) proper R rated Pacecest maybe even NC-17. *waggles eyebrows*

1. I almost put a episode related tag on that one as it was based on the image of Charlie sitting at Locke's feet from Everybody Hates Hugo. I find it odd how Charlie questions everyone else but follows Locke with alomst blind devotion. I can't decide if it's a quirk in the writing of his character or a set up for things to come... or maybe it's because he seems to need something to follow - be that faith, a dream or a person.

2. I love the Charlie/Hurley dynamic, it's one of my favourite on the show. The friendship seems more natural, less forced than some of the others. I hope they explore it further.

4. Liam was Charlie's church.I definitely think he defined himself in terms of Liam's attitude to him in the same way that a person might define themselves in relation to their beliefs. It makes the sense of betrayal all the stronger if you see ( ... )

*bounces and snogs* You know we loves the Pacecest, preciouss!

Charlie has a rather blind devotion to Claire too (though I suppose she's less of threat than Locke, hee), which I assume has more to it than simply getting into her pants (and hopefully more than just making amends for the way he treated, err, Lucy--is that her name?). I think it could be more evidence of his addict mentality: addicted to people as well as drugs.

I think he sees a way to prove himself in Claire, to show that he can be a responsible person and not a screw up. In Locke I think it is definitely his need to believe in something as I said before and yes, I think you are right, it's partly the addict in him showing through.
Addicted to the need to be an addict?

¡♥!

Actually even though I didn't think I would, I liked the Charlie/Locke one - unfortunately I would love to read more. I'd be interested in what Locke would make Charlie do...

And anything Jack/Charlie makes me happy - that's a favorite pairing of mine and I still don't get why it's not more popular since of the men on the island - I think Charlie and Jack have the most interaction. And the most touches...and looks...and everything..

(see - unintelligent reviews - write more blah blah)

Worryingly the Charlie/Locke was the easiest and most enjoyable to write. There's an interesting dynamic between them that, I think, may deserve further study... (translation = I've had another idea for that pairing)

I think the monster that is Jack/Sawyer has kind of put paid to a lot of people's Jack/Charlie muse - plus non snarky Jack is a bastard to write without falling into the feminisation trap (something I can't abide in my fic or anyone elses) and as the interaction between Jack & Charlie doesn't have that snark to it maybe that's why there's not so much of what I agree is a very pleasant pairing out there.

(There was nothing unintelligent about your review, plus look, it lead to rambling on my part!)

Glad you liked them. :)

I can decide which is my favorite, because they are all so freakin' good. I read these last night but wanted to wait to comment until I had all my wits about me. there are a couple of lines that just brought it all home:

Fear begins to crawl up his spine as he realises that this place, this house, contains the person who can help him rebuild his dreams or shatter them once and for all with just a few simple words.

I love how you write the relationship between Charlie and Liam, for Charlie is always seems like it comes back to Liam - like that's where it all went wrong...or right.

Power over another is a seductive thing and Locke can feel himself becoming intoxicated by the trust in Charlie’s eyes.

this freakin' scared the shit out of me!

He wants to sink into the warmth that fills his body, fall into its arms, drift off to sleep but fate steps in, the door opens and he falls instead onto a cold tiled floor.

dude, you are so right, Charlie + heroin = OTP

As I said in my reply to philomel's comment - I wrote them as a way to force my muse to stop flitting about from one idea to another. I find that focusing on a word limit makes me focus even more on what I am trying to say. If that makes any sense at all! Anyhoo, glad you liked my little exercise in muse punishment!

The relationship between Liam and Charlie is one of my favourites on the show (and no not because of the Pacecest possibilities!) as there is so much depth to it - or at least there is in my eyes anyway. But I love that you love how I write them. *smooches*

Ah, that line was supposed to be a bit scary so I am really happy that it worked so well for you!

*points at icon* best OTP ever!
