The New Dr. Who

So, I finally got around to watching the new episodes of the Dr. Who remake series.  First off I want to say that I really like Season 1, so I have high hopes for Season 2 and 3.  The two new episodes premiered on the SciFi channel on Friday evening, but I didn't watch them until this morning.  I would have posted earlier, but I've been pretty damn busy today.  I'll go over all that later.

The new episodes of Dr. Who were... ok.  The first episode "A Christmas Invasion" was, in my opinion, very average.  It wasn't as good as many of Season 1.  The second episode, "New Earth" was actually pretty good.  However neither episodes grabbed me as much as the first two episodes of Season 1.  Why?  Well, because they changed the Doctor.  There was a good explanation, I'll grant that, but I don't like the new guy.  He doesn't have the same charm as Christopher EcclestonDavid Tennant is the new Doctor and though there definitely could have been worse decisions, there had to have been better choices.  Looking at Tennant's resume, he is obviously a TV actor, so maybe as he plays the role more, he will fill it out to the level that Eccleston did right off the bat.  I will keep watching, no doubt of that, but I will constantly hope Tennant will begin to understand who the Doctor really is and how to bring the Doctor back to his greatness that was shown in Season 1.  So, check out Dr. Who on the SciFi channel, you probably won't be disappointed.

I've recently been starting to watch a new show called Numb3rs.  Probably because it has math (though grossly simplified as most things are on network prime time dramas), Lou Diamond Phillips and that guy from Northern Exposure... uhh... Rob Morrow.  Thank you IMDB.

Also, thanks Alice for informing me that Criminal Minds premiered a couple weeks ago.  Yeah, I missed the first episode, but thanks to the wonders of DVR, I won't miss another... hopefully.  I think the only reason I'm watching this show is because I like Mandy Patinkin, but really, who doesn't.  The Princess Bride and Dead Like Me.  Awesome.  He is such a fantastic actor, though those two are the only things I've seen him in.  :(

Ok, on to what I did today.  I got up today and watched Dr. Who.  Towards the end of the second episode, I get a call from Dave.  He asks if we can do some things today with his coaxial cable coming out of the wall.  It turns out that all he wanted was to redo the cable coming out of the wall so it was an actual outlet.  So, we went to Ace Hardware and got a coaxial wallplate.  We came back to the his house and it turns out that the RG6 compression ends that I have are too big and won't work with the antiquated RG59 cable coming out of the wall.  So, I get kinda pissed and we go out again.  Dave had to drop off a dog cable to Natasha at a friends house.  So, we do that, go to Lowes, don't find anything, go to Radio Shack, I dig up some crimp on RG59 ends, and we go back to Dave's house.  I screw up five of the crimp ends until I finally figure out what I was doing wrong.  So, I strip the copper shielding, pop that end on, and bam, fucker stays on.  I got very happy with myself when I actually applied the damn lessons of crimp on coaxial ends that Michael Moyer taught me and it worked.  I will say that if it wasn't for Radio Shack, I would have been so boned.  I'm sure Natasha wouldn't have been to happy if I would have come in and fucked up their satellite cable without fixing it.  Anyway, after I affix the wallplate to the, you guessed it, wall, we went out to Knob Knoster and picked up some things from their old apartment.  I have to say, that apartment was awesome.  Oh, and in case you are reading this before you check out your room, surprise Dawno.  After we got back to Warrensburg, Dave and I went by Wal-Mart to do some grocery shopping.  Whatever the hell Saracha sauce is.  I didn't know, Dave didn't know, so I got a bottle of Oriental hot sauce that had a similar name.  After Wal-Mart, I hung out at Dave's house for a while, then left due to some other chores I had to do, such as vacuuming.  So, here I am.

Well, I'll talk about one last thing before I go.  That one thing is Radio Shack.  I walked into the local Radio Shack today and I was not greeted in the standard Radio Shack way.  You know, the "Hello, anything I can help you find?" thing that all Radio Shack employees are supposed to greet customers.  I was very put off by this.  Then, I found the RG59 ends I was looking for.  Well, I was looking for compression ends, but apparently Radio Shack doesn't carry them.  Anyway, I had Dave talk to the store employee and see if he could identify the cable sample we took and his response was, "Well, it's either RG59 or 60."  WELL NO SHIT DUMBASS!!!  Our question was whether he could tell us which one it was.  I get pissed off at Radio Shack every time I walk out of them.  I realize that I could do their job upside down and blindfolded and end up doing it better.  However, no, I cannot work for Radio Shack because I tried to go camping once.  Don't ask, long story.  The long story doesn't help the fact that I have a tendency to tell stories in a long manner.  Yes, I am becoming more and more aware of it.  Thinking about Radio Shack just pisses me off.  I do boycott them as much as possible, unless I am forced to buy from them, such as today.  Damn Radio Shack... I'm gonna go watch TV.
