Let's Play Seven Drunken Pirates!

Oct 12, 2004 17:53

Thank you to Flogging Molly for the inspiration for this game. The premis to build a drinking game off of this song was that the only thing that could possibly be funnier than a drunk talking, is several drunks trying to talk in unison. The very notion tickles me as I type this. So, anyway. Here are the rules:

[Ideally there are seven players sitting around a round table or in some circle. Less than seven players will necessitate the Captain to divy up the lyrics to suit the number of pirates present]

Materials needed:
Rum (any alcohol will do, but rum adds to the authenticity of it)
Glasses with which to recieve and drink said Rum
Lyrics (whether memorized or printed off, no lyrics=no basis for the game)
Pirates, of course!

Special Notes:
The Captain= more or less the facilitator. But, the Captain is the ballsy one. The one who claims he can win the battle. (see 'winning the game) This is the guy who takes the first chunk of lyrics. The one who pours drinks for the losers, and the one who keeps the beat by drumming it on the table. The one who remains vigilant for any possible Losers (see 'Losing the Battle')But you have to volunteer to be the first Captain. Trick is, if you lose, you drink twice your share. IE: once The Captain decides how many shots a round is worth (see "losing the battle"), should the Captain lose that round, s/he must drink twice that. (if a round is worth a shot, s/he drinks two. Because they were ballsy enough to be the Captain) Should the Captain lose a round, they are stripped of their title and once again become lowly crew. The title is either automatically given to the winner of that round. If there was more than one winner, or if there were no winners at all, then someone must volunteer and argue it out. Who would make the best Captain? Spare no effort on the Pirate impersonations, either.
The Crew= Everyone else who isn't the Captain

Rules:
1)Every one starts out at the same lebel of inebriation. The Crew decides amongst themselves how much that may take.... The game starts when everyone has imbibed the agreed upon amount of Rum
2) The Captain is chosen. See "The Captain" and review how to duke it out properly. If it comes to blows, you did it wrong. Asshole.
3)The Captain determins the number of shots the round is worth
4) The Captain starts the beat. The tempo is at his descretion.
5) Each Pirates lyrics are recited in turn, with the chorus said in unison.

Winning the Battle: Say all your lines properly. You won't have to drink
Losing The Battle: Flub your lines. It's the Captain's responsibility and pleasure to call you out on it. The rest of the crew is free to jeer you to their hearts content. And then you drink.

(All)
Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
Together undivided but forever we'll be free
So sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins

(1)
So the years rolled by and several died
And left us somewhat reelin'
Johnny strummed his Tommy gun
Left blastin' through the ceiling

(2)
So what became of rebels
Who sang for you and me?
Grapplin' with their demons
In the seach for liberty

(3)
Suffers who suffer all
Can swim upon the desert
Where avarice have ravaged all

(4)
In spite of good intentions
Don't fill your mouth with gluttony
For pride will surely swell

(All)
But nothing's unforgiven in the four corners of hell
Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
Together undivided but forever we'll be free
So sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins

(5)
Envy and its evill twin
It crepy in bed with slander
Idiots they gave advice
But sloth it gave no answer

(6)
Anger kills the human soul
With bitter tales of lust
While Pavlov's Dogs keep chewin'
On the legs they never trust

(All)
Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
Together undivided but forever we'll be free
So sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins

(7)
But It's the only life we'll know
Blagards to the bone
So don't wreck yourself
Take an honest grip
For there's more tales beyond the shore

(All)
Ah the years rolled by and several died
And left us somewhat reelin'
In and out came crawlin' out
And spewed upon the ceiling
So what became of rebels"
That sang for you and me
Grapplin; with their demons
In the seach for liberty
Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
Together undivided but forever we'll be free
So sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins
Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
Together undivided but forever we'll be free
So sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins
