I just got home from being in georgia for my grandpa's funeral.
I am so relieved that he isn't on earth miserable anymore, and now he is in heaven with his wife that has been waiting on him for 12 years, so I'd say its about time.
After my granny merle died, he remarried this crazy bitch that was in the business of getting all she possibly could from older men. She got him to give her everything he had as far as money goes, so she could open a business, go on cruises and vacations with her sister, it was just wrong. but worst of all to me, she wouldn't let his grandchildren or children come near him. she took away the only years i had to ever get to know my only grandfather before he had dementia. Then she had the balls to take everything out of his house from pots, pans, pictures, and every single piece of furniture and then left him home sick in bed. I don't understand how anyone can be that.......mean, selfish, you name it, she is IT. thank god she didn't show up, there would have been a W.W.F. smack down in the church of god. But anyway, after a wife lost to cancer, and a bitch that took everything, and the dementia, i know he was ready.
The doctor at the nursing home said that morning he got all dressed up and had breakfast with her and she asked him why he was getting all dressed up and he said "I am going home today, I am going home". Then he passed mid-day.
When my grandmother passed, she was holding my dad's hand and she told him "I see the light" right before she closed her eyes the last time.
That gives me all the faith i'll ever need right there.
Anyway..moving on.
Besides the funeral and all, it was so much fun. I went down to south south, florida line, po-dunk, country bumpkin, rebel livin' cairo, georgia with my brother, his wife, and my sister. We had so much fun together. Then we met up with our cousins and we practiced songs for the funeral. My siblings and I sang go rest high on that mountain, it gave me the closure i needed, it felt really good to sing that there.
I don't know how funerals go with your family, but down south your doorbell and phone rings every two seconds and the house is filled with casseroles, pictures, and people for 4 days.
i got to re-unite with all my cousins and family i never really knew because i was so young. and after paw paw's funeral about 50 people in our surrounding families came over to paw paw's house and we ate this huge lunch that ladies from the nearest church prepared during the funeral. We ate, and told stories and Heather and I, of course, made everyone go outside for pictures. hehe.
After that we My siblings and closest cousins spent the night at the cabin on this farm 10 miles from anything surrounded by ponds and cows. We're talking bunk beds, spiders and all. We had a blast, and i even caught some fish!
well i am tired and thats whats up so far.
pray for my dad if you get the chance.
happy thursday!
