Finding myself with much more time on my hands than usual, I've taken to furious cooking.
For Mike's birthday bbq I made:
vodka spiked watermelon (eh, not worth the effort.)
chicken and artichoke rice salad (every one loved it, so here's the
recipe, it's perfect for the summer/)
milk tart (a South African custard pie; disaster, I burned it, EW! Some people were polite and choked it down, but I knew better.)
strawberry rhubarb pie (yum. If you want a recipe, here you go: strawberries, rhubarb, flour, sugar, dabs of butter, crust.)
The biggest thing I learned from this experience: do NOT try to make your own pie crusts in 100+ degree weather. Your tears will not make it come together any better!
Also, I have a very sweet and appreciative husband who deserves the bestest birthday ever.
