Aftermath of the virus; Action spam!

Xanxus threw the glass he had been drinking from with a vicious snarl. He had been fine when he woke up, and then the memories hit him. He couldn't believe it at first, he had been happy at such thoughts. Then he realized something else... It had been fake. It had all been so fucking FAKE. Logically, Xanxus should not be shocked at the cruelty of ( Read more... )

There was a knock at the shattered remains of the door, loud even in its hesitance. Kasumi could not help but wince at the sight of them locked in struggle. Xanxus... she had seen him fight before, but never this desperately. Where was his spirit? Something clenched around her heart; wherever his joy for battle was, it was not here for this one.

Kasumi took a step into the room after setting down her medical kit by the door, and then another, careful to pick her way around the rubble. From a safe distance (or an approximation of one, since the only safe place from Xanxus with him like this was across the world, and maybe not even then) she addressed him. "Onii-sama," she said, softly but clearly. "It is time for dinner. There is steak, tender loin, and truffles." Kasumi held his eyes as best she could, hoping for the best. "You are... ready?"

Squalo was not forgotten; she wanted to thank him for this. She had seen in this instant just how much he cared for his elder brother. It was a comfort. He had done what he could, and now he looked a mess, but as much as she would have liked to do something for him, nothing could be done until situation was resolved.

Squalo stood, too. Bleeding from his back, his hand, his knees and his face, but that mattered little to him. Kasumi's presence barely registered next to the fact that Xanxus had this really big shard of glass in his hand, which by no means scared him, but it meant one of them was now armed and one wasn't.

He wasn't quite panting yet, things had been quick and painful but not particularly exhausting. For the moment he would not attack. Just wait for it, and react if necessary. Fuck, how he hated this situation. There was nothing he could do to make it even the slightest bit better, and he hated it.

Xanxus growled at her as she entered, tensing in place as she got closer and closer in his strike range. Blood dripped between his fingers and onto the floor as he waited for her to speak, unsure if he should eliminate her yet or just ignore her.

He did not want her to be here, not to see him in this state and not to get in his way just like the rest of the world. He could do two things now, go after her or finish what he started with Squalo. There was no peaceful solution.

"Leave." He snarled the command towards her, wanting her to go away until he was done. Then he would deal with her, but not now.

Kasumi had thought the sound of her voice would calm him, at least a little, but it seemed to only make things worse. The light in his eyes was terrible, frightening to the core. Xanxus was clear in what he wanted of her. Even so, she persisted from her place not so far away. "It's dinner time, oniisama. Please, come with me."

He still clutched at the shard of glass, bleeding freely onto the floor. The thought of what injury was being done to his hand turned her stomach to knots. Both of them needed looking after; if only he would allow it.

Squalo could guess at Xanxus's mood. He knew that rage too well not to understand the subtle differences in tone and stance, in tension.

Shifting his footing slightly but audibly, he attempted to draw the other man's attention back to himself- no matter how oblivious this woman apparently was, it was below both of them to let her be caught in the crossfire. He'd invited her in, asked her to come even. Squalo had no intention of letting his boss hurt family he'd bothered to adopt after all these years. Himself, he could certainly take another blow or a dozen, but Kasumi...? Unlikely. His eyes narrowed, gazing at Xanxus. We're not done here.
