Liveblogging the boys yesterday has given me a newfound respect for taurenova, pulling out AC360 liveblogs for us each night. Man, that takes a lot of energy ( Read more... )

Again. I'm still too proud about calling the Shot. I even told my Mum about it. And she just rolled her eyes at me.

TDS:

1. Jon is totally pumped this week. It's awesome.

Remember taking the piss out of the Duelling Speeches with Anderson the other week? That's the first thing that came to mind when Jon started talking about this.

And yeah - he's totally right on the ridiculous manufactured Gingrich vs Palin thing. I kinda loved that AC360 just mentioned Palin as an aside (giving background to why she wasn't speaking and whatnot) and didn't try to make something up. Chalk up another one to Andy's journalistic integrity.

2. Ah, Berlusconi - there's is no-one as corrupt as that man, right now. (I loved the title for the segment! BLAGOwatch!) We hear about him all the time over here.

Most recently there was a bit where he said that he never makes gaffes - that it's all a media conspiracy to make him look bad. That doesn't work because, as TDS pointed out, he own most of the media outlets in Italy.

(No topless women - but is there a topless Stephe, Jon? ;D)

3. Yay! Hodgman! ♥ He was a lot of fun - really well put together little piece and I loved their fake movie trailer.

4. I hate that I get so annoyed when people criticise Obama. Because, you know, he isn't the Messiah - he's not going to get everything right, and yet part of me still gets irritated.

Still - if the stimulus is going to cause more problems, well...I guess we'll find out in a few months. I thought it was interesting that the guy singled out Bernanke yet made no mention of Timmy - does that mean people aren't beating up on Timmy anymore?

Oh, I believe the state was Conneticut, btw.

5. Yay! Stephen shout-out! (Only two more nights to go - here's hoping *fingers crossed*)

TCR:

1. I'm really chuffed he's sticking with the Bob Hope reference. I'm really hoping he hits one of his jokes into the audience at least once - Bob Hope used to do that.

And, yeah, their influence kinda blows my mind a little.

Stephen and his haircut is adorable. It's definitely shorter, though, which must've been so they could do the ridiculous product placement.

2. Stephen Strong = FTW. I loved him singing the chant and dancing - and the repelling was kinda hot. (And Stephen clearly enjoyed the repelling once he got going)

Also loved the 'If I'm gay...' line. Very funny and, well, a little pointed.

I totally agree with your assessment of the Drill Sergeant. He was clearly enjoying getting stuck. (Also the Officer and A Gentleman ref. at the end of the segment was class.)

3. I was half expecting them to come out of the Bush Shout-Out and see Stephen standing there in shorts. He joked on GMA that he would shave his legs if it would the troops happy...

4. HE MENTIONED DAN CHOI! I <3 U STEPHEN! (I totally want Jon or Stephen to interview Dan, now, because he's so utterly awesome, as we know.)

The sheer size of Stephen's titanium balls, man. I just can't even - doing a Formidable Opponent on DADT in the midst of all those soldiers. And...wow, Stephen, you're fucking amazing.

5. The enlisted soldiers were awesome. I loved Robin calling Stephen on his 'win' instead of 'earn' and him breaking a little over it. I loved the very important points Tareq made about why he wanted to serve (to get America's enemies, and to fix Arab-American's reputations) - he was a little bit special and awesome.

6. Mrs Colbert must've been so chuffed with that. Aww. Stephen.

I am still too amused that you called the shot! I wonder if Andy will do anything else this week...

TDS:

1) I just remember seeing a graphic for the dueling speeches that I think involved light sabers. But that's exactly what I thought of, too. Anderson handled the Palin mention well.

2) The little I know about Berlusconi is all bad. (And, aha, it made me a little excited for the possibility of future, real BLAGO WATCHES. Although I am not looking forward to the ridiculousness the trial will probably be.)

(I...think we know the answer to that question. XD)

3) Hodgman was fun! I like getting to hear from the correspondents on longer pieces... I hope Aasif or Wyatt gets to do something soon, I feel like we haven't heard from them in a while.

4) I know, I hate that I get defensive of them because I want people to give well-thought-out critiques of government! I guess it's just because my memory of government is dominated by Bush and this was the first time I'd voted so I'm really invested in these people.

Oh Timmy. I remember reading something about how people were picking on him less because they were starting to think he was right. Timmy and Orszag (I... can't call him by his first name for some reason), we are trusting in you!

5) We can hope!

TCR:

1) I'm still kinda ruffled that he had to do a product placement over there, but, eh, at least he made it totally absurd.

2) XD I literally thought "Wow, Stephen should sing more often" and then he went "I WANNA SING"

And now knowing what came later in the show, a very nice line.

3) Well he did joke about wearing Daisy Dukes. If he had been in shorts I don't think Anderson would've let that pass uncommented on.

4) I KNOWWW (I really hope he does go on one (or both!) of the shows in the future. I think he'd do well against "Stephen" and have a good interview with Jon)!

Ahaha, absolutely. I just kind of flailed during the whole segment.

5) Tareq was awesome, I also liked his signing up because we're in a time of war and the country needed people point. <3 And Robin wins for making Stephen break.

6) Omg that was pretty much the most adorable thing ever. ^_^ Mrs. Colbert had to have loved that.
