I want to paint something...

I am not particularly good at any form of art but I like the process -- just sitting down and losing several hours with a brush or a pencil.

I didn't have much lazy-time in the past year or so. First, there were the driving lessons, then the grad school started, then the moving and figuring my way around the kitchen.

Ah, the kitchen, that was quite a surprise. Somehow, cooking turned out to be just another form of leisure. And art, although I'm definitely not anywhere near the cooking-as-art stage. Still... On Wednesday, I got home annoyed and sleepy after a day of work and an operating systems class (the class is quite good; both, the annoyance and the sleep deprivation were work-related); decided I wanted a real meal and made beef stroganoff with mashed potatoes -- one of my family's favorite dinner combinations.

It was good. What was even better, I was relaxed and happy by the time I got to eat the stuff. There is something very comforting about smells and sounds of cooking.

Not entirely sure how this turned into a Joys of Cooking post but, well, it's my blog. I can afford to get a little illogical around here.
